Love it bought three
Tiny like the humming bird which I see all summer long. The design stands out very well for it's size. Picked up three, suspect 2 will land up as gifts.

In Portuguese, they are known as beija-flores or "flower-kissers." Early Spanish explorers called them joyas voladoras or "flying jewels." Native to North and South America, hummingbirds are the smallest and among the most fascinating birds in the world.

Special features:

• An elegant design is finely engraved and meticulously presented in a beautiful proof finish coin (frosted raised elements on mirror background).

Design:
Your coin was designed by Canadian artist Claudio D'Angelo, and features a Ruby-throated Hummingbird in full flight: a pose that can only be captured by cutting-edge photographic equipment, given that its wings beat more than 50 times per second. Posed at the centre of this clean-lined, highly polished pure gold coin, the miniscule marvel raises its dark long-billed head, its wings—each feather engraved in fine detail—fully extended behind it. From the tiny white spot above the bird's lifelike right eye to the downy feathering of its belly and dark-shaded tips of its back and tail-feathers, each detail of the hummingbird's appearance is apparent despite the tiny size of both the coin and its subject. Engraved with the face value, "25 Cents" and "Canada 2013."
Packaging:
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint branded maroon clamshell case lined with flock and protected by a black sleeve.
The hummingbird: the Canadian forest's miniscule miracle.

Beautiful hummingbird design, but I'm not so keen about the queen's ubiquitous image on every Canadian coin.

A beautiful tribute boasting brilliant luster and fine detail. One of it's many attributes is the coin's minute size which assists in making this collectible so very special. Anyone who complains that it's too tiny needs to remember that it is only a half gram of gold. That's not a lot of material to work with, so given the extreme dimensions, this coin is an absolute winner in every sense of the word. Sometimes smaller is better as is the case with this fine gold coin.
