A subscription of historical interest, order yours today!
The first coin in your subscription pays tribute to Canada's role in the Battle of Britain with its depiction of a dogfight in the skies above Dover. At the helm of a Hawker Hurricane, a Canadian fighter pilot ascends higher after firing upon a Dornier Do 17Z – the enemy plane has seemingly dropped in altitude as a trail of dark smoke billows up from one of its engines. Well below these fighter planes, the background recreates England's beautiful southeastern coast, where the waters of the English Channel meet the famous White Cliffs of Dover.
This subscription depicts scenes from key battles in which Canadians bravely participated during the Second World War. Order yours today!

There is just to much time between each coin and the price is a little too high. I mean take the first coin and that is 80.00 some dollars and x10 make 800,00 some dollars.(Sorry, I don't remember the exact price but don't get me wrong I love Canda and planes and World War II) Now, I love the images on the coin!

Loved the first coin. But the second coin is taking way to long to come out. I feel the mint is really dragging this series. Very disappointing.

This is a very well designed coin. I received mine when they first came out. I thought the point of a subscription was to receive a coin every month. When do the other coins start rolling out? Is this a yearly subsciption?

Fitting commemoration of "The Few"
5
This RCM has done an outstanding job in the design and its execution of this coin.
It accurately depicts a Hurricane fighter and Dornier bomber over the Dover Cliffs. I confirmed the accuracy of and type of planes in the image with the RAF Museum in North London, UK. They verified that these, were, in fact, typical of those involved in 1940.
This is a fitting tribute to the Canadians who were among "The Few", as many flew the Hurricane and Spitfires that held the Luftwaffe at bay. "Canada's contribution to the Battle of Britain was enormous", according to the RAF Museum. The inclusion of George VI's image complements its historical accuracy.
An earlier coin issued by the Royal Mint in 2010 for the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain depicted an RAF Spitfire and is a nice companion to this coin. That said, I much prefer to RCM's coin for its scene and strike.
The execution of this design is very well done, given the coin's relatively small surface area. The strike, as always, is perfect, and this coin will likely grade PF-70 by PCGS or NGC.
It's also worth noting that the UK's Royal Mint has received much criticism for the historical inaccuracies of its 50p, circulating coin. Google Royal Mint Battle of Britain coin for details.
The remaining coins in the series also have themes that anyone interested in WWII will appreciate, whether Canadian or American. The RCM constantly delights and excites me with its coins, and this one is no exception.

The Battle of Britain, the first coin.

This coin has gotten nothing but "Ooohs and Ahhhs" from everyone that I have shown it to. As someone who collects militaria and was honoured to be a participant in a lot of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations while in the Navy, I was deeply impressed by this coin. I have purchased military themed coins from the Australian Mint and the Royal Mint, including the Royal Mints latest Battle of Britain coin and they do not come close to this coin. The last Battle of Britain coin that I saw that came close to this one was the 2010 Battle of Britain coin issued by Alderney, which was also offered by the Canadian Mint.
I cannot wait for the rest of the series to be delivered.

1 oz. Fine Silver 10-Coin Subscription - Second World War Battlefront (2015)

90.0
My understanding of this subscription was that each coin was 89.95as advertised. Now it appears that the cost is 92.95. How come?
Paul
We keep the lower price of $89.95 per coin within the subscription. The new price of $92.95 per coin applies if a customer buys each coin separately/outside the subscription.

Does this subscription come with a display case? previously I have ordered sets but they say after the 3rd or 4th coin a case is included. I could just be missing it, but I don't see anything like that on this set. Is a display case included? thanks!
doug_soup
Hi Doug,
Each coin in this subscription is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a custom beauty box. There is not a display case for all the coins together.

When I purchase a subscription for a set., will all the coins have matching serial #'s ?
John Williams
Hi John,
Good question! The serial # (certificate #s) for all the coin in any subscription will most likely not match. Since subscriptions can be cancelled at anytime, many customers keep the coin(s) they've already purchased, so it's impossible to ensure every customer receives the same certificate # for all their coins in a subscription.
Chad
Not sure which category this applies to but can individual coins be ordered or do they have to be purchased by subscription?
MONA
Hi Mona,
Yes, all the Second World War Battlefront coins will be available to purchase individually. The first one (Battle of Britain) is already for sale. Here's the link to the product page; http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/coins-prod2310026.

What is the mintage of these coins?
Revally
Hi Revally,

Chad
Hello,
Just wondering when the coins 2-10 are going to be released?
What sort of timeframe is there for this series?
Thanks,
Kevin

Is the price per coin or for the whole 10 coins?
Dutch76
The price is $89.95 CAD per coin for 10 coins. The series runs until 2018.
Anonymous
LOL, I would buy 20 sets if the price was for all 10 coins. Each coin is 1 oz , today's spot price is $25.00/oz. (times 10 oz.'s = $250.00) just in silver not counting engraving, boxes, shipping ect.
