About the first coin design:
Canadian artist Loïc Beaumont-Tremblay has re-created the forested setting of the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic beneath a clear, star-filled sky. A globule of borosilicate glass shines with a stunning image of the universe. The round, crystal-clear qualities of the glass are similar to peering through a telescope lens, and its luminescence further enhances the viewer’s experience of gazing into the galaxy.

Packaging:
Each coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Cool coin. The glow in the dark effect is a little underwhelming, but still very neat. Cant wait to see the next coin in the series.

This coin exceeded my expectations. The engraving on this piece is artful. The placement of gold dust for stars is more than pleasing to the eye. I am anxious to receive the next two and to begin a new series.

You answered my question of when the third coin was scheduled to be released with 2016. I would like to know if you can be a little more precise with your answer such as in the first or second quarter.

        • Q:

          Hello,
Does the given diameter of 38 mm include the width of the capsule, or is that just the width of the coin itself?
Asked on 11/14/2015 by Kieran from Halifax, NS

          2 answers

          • A:

It would be the coin's actual diameter, so the capsule manufacturers generally make the capsule slightly larger than the coin's actual diameter.
