Design:
Your coin features mirror-image landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and Mount Fuji. The one half of the design presents a well-known scene of Jasper National Park's Spirit Island, located on stunning Maligne Lake. The jagged, unmistakable peaks of the Rockies rise into the distant background, following the lake's rocky, spruce-lined water line. Opposite this image and mirroring its composition on the other half of the reverse is a landscape portrait of snow-capped Mount Fuji, as it is often depicted in art and photography. In the foreground, graphically reflecting an island of spruce in the Rocky Mountain scene, a Japanese Black Pine rises skyward. The two scenes are bisected by a horizontal band bearing the mirrored bilingual phrases ""ROCKY MOUNTAINS – MONTAGNES ROCHEUSES" and "MOUNT FUJI – MONT FUJI." The design also incorporates the Japanese text for "Rocky Mountains" and "Mount Fuji."

Packaging:
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a custom beauty box.

I love this concept of the unesco coins. Hope there will be more and that the rest fulfil the promise of this one. In particular, my nephew lived in Japan for a number of years and loved it. I can think of no better gift to link his love for both countries together.

What a unique, clever idea. RCM has to be commended on this one. I've never seen a coin like this one before. Sure to become a collectors item since it's the first of its kind.

An International Gem of a Coin!

The reflection of the Rockies and of Mt Fuji across the middle of the coin speaks volumes. I have never seen a coin quite like this one, which reminds us that nature and heritage span the globe. In true international fasion, both ranges are treated fairly, complementing each other's beauty.
