Design:
Designed by Canadian artist Stéphanie Gauvin, your coin presents a striking artistic rendition of a quintessentially Canadian winter landscape, from the snow-covered trees and mountain peak to the wood ski chalet that is nestled at the heart of it all. Even as the winter sun sets on an activity-filled day, the chalet's rustic charm adds another welcoming element to the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the tranquility of its setting. The use of extensive colours—from a winter-cool palette of blues, violets, and greens to the rich brown wood hues—recreates the playful way that light transforms the winter landscape as the fading sun sets on one of the season's brightest days.

Did you know…
  • The Rocky Mountains are home to many top-ranked ski destinations that offer breathtaking scenery, wide terrain and activities for people of all ages.
  • The scene was inspired by the beauty of the British Columbia Interior—specifically the Kootenay region, where powdery snow creates wonderful conditions for winter activities.
  • An estimated 2.5 million Canadians either ski or snowboard.
  • Skiing has a long history, dating back thousands of years ago when it was used as a means of transportation across snow-covered terrain.
  • The word ski itself can trace its origins to Norway, and is derived from the Old Norse word skīth, meaning "a stick of wood" or a board.

Packaging:
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Comments about 1 oz. Fine Silver Coloured Coin – Canadian Landscape Series: Ski Chalet – Mintage: 7500 (2016):

Bought it as a gift for my family, together with the 2015 Autumn Express.

I like the coin, but was a bit disappointed in the box of the Ski Challet, as compared to the Box of the Autumn Express. The outside cover of the box in which Ski Chalet comes is black, as opposed to the colorful, beautiful-representation -of-the-coin box the Autumn Express coin comes in.

Also, the interior box of the Ski Chalet came slightly damaged, not closing perfectly straight. I was able to fix it, but it did disappoint that way. Fortunately I checked before offering the coin as a present.

Comments about 1 oz. Fine Silver Coloured Coin – Canadian Landscape Series: Ski Chalet – Mintage: 7500 (2016):

Bought it to have complete series - I bought first 2 coins separately - I climbed m.Assiniboine once, that whole park is beautiful. I expected to see other Rockies as well. Ski Chalet was a bit of a disappointment, I think m.Robson deserves it better - it's eastern side is majestic. Still a nice series although it could've been so much better.

Stephanie has captured an iconic part of local history, well-known to anyone who has ever visited Rossland BC or skied Red Mountain. It's a little piece of home, so colourful and well-designed. We love it.

This coin in this series started off quite well with majestic scenes of mountains and probably would have been better to do the same here. A chalet has little personal importance to me, because i can not relate to it. I only bought this coin as it continues the series. The mint should think these series through a little more

Is the $99.95 cost for a single coin or the set? I'm only interested in the Ski Chalet; how do I order it as a single coin?
