•   EACH COIN INCLUDES A UNIQUE EFFIGY: Each coin within the subscription is faithful to the original design and includes the effigy of the reigning monarch at the time of the coin's original issue date.
•   Subscribe today and then relax knowing that you will receive all six coins, one per month! The crossed maple bough is the first coin of the six-coin Legacy of the Canadian Nickel subscription, which recreates previous 5-cent coin designs produced by the Royal Canadian Mint throughout its history, since 1908. Other coins in the subscription include:
      –  #2: Two Maple Leaves
      –  #3: The Victory
      –  #4: The Identification of Nickel
      –  #5: The Centennial 5-cent Coin
      –  #6: The Beaver
•   Modern techniques and multiple finishes help bring the past to life with added definition and enhanced detailing.
•   Each coin's 40-mm diameter makes it double the size of the original, allowing for a larger canvas to showcase the intricately detailed design.

Can't Stop Looking At Them!

5

Yes, this set is a little pricey. But oh man, what a beautiful set! A real tribute to the nickel. The gold plating on these coins is stunning. I keep going back and looking at them. Makes me wish the big coin set was in my budget. I think you would be happy to own this collection. As for the loose coins in the box(which is a bit of a pain), I found putting a rubber band or a couple around the coin holder helps a bit with them moving.

Setting the record straight.

Soon after I wrote my earlier review, the final coin came in gold plated on both sides. I spoke to a Mint official in Halifax who was not aware of the advertising blunder. Thankfully the set is complete and I would encourage anyone who has waited for all the designs to be shown to subsribe to this series before it sells out. Unlike some of the other sets, these coins have yet to be made available on an individual basis, hopefully retaining their value for some time.

Feeling Shortchanged

Looking forward to the completion of this series but a little dissapointed with the last coin soon to be shipped. The recent catlogue and advertising for the Beaver nickel clearly shows the obverse as being unplated. I was hoping for more of a match with the other five.

Beautiful Coins~Nice box too!

Just one negative that caused me to rate this series 4 rather than 5 out of 5. It is the problem "Dr. Ed" mentioned. The coins are not snug in the holes in the box. Every time I open the box to look at the coins, they have come loose and I must put them back in their spots. I haven't noticed this in other RCM display boxes. If I could get a replacement, I would. Most RCM's boxes are for 38mm coins. Maybe that is why this error occurred with these 40mm coins. But that is out-weighed by the many positives: This is a beautiful series of coins! What could be better suited for a lover of Canadian coinage than this series! I can't wait to see and hold Colville's 1967 "Bunny" coin! It is also great to have the monarch's effigy of the time on each coin with selective gold plating. Sometimes when I look at the coins I turn them around to see them in the beautiful display box, monarch side-up. It makes me think that RCM should do a similar series featuring all of Alex Colville's 1967 designs. It would be a thrill to have them all at 40mm with the same selective gold plating. Perhaps this would be a good series to release for Canada's sesquicentennial in 2017! If you agree, please add comments here!

Stunning Display of Canadian Numismatics

5

This is an excellent addition to other sets issued by the RCM to commemorate significant Canadian numismatic events, e.g., sets issued for Canada's first coins, the history of the penny, etc. Rather than reissue the coins in their original small size, the RCM chose the 1 oz. format to better display the coins design. The execution, strike and finish are truly beautiful.

Excellent Coins Poor Quality Display Box

3

The coins fall out of the holes cut in the display box. This results in the coins falling out of thier holes every time you open the box. Be careful or they will fall to the floor. Also the lid to the box I received was not attached to the bottom; the hinges had not been properly inserted into their slots.

Great Presentation!

Received the display box today and it is even nicer than the 2013 Oh Canada series. Looking forward to completing the set and showing it off. Only issue might be the non removable bottom tray, leaving one to place the coins individually in an Allstate display case. Great addition to the curio cabinet!
