About the first coin design:

Canadian artist Calder Moore has created a full-sized kaleidoscope design for the coin's extra-large surface. Countless polar bears come together in a complex pattern of amazing beauty, some face-to-face to create the outer ring of the design, while smaller bears stand back-to-back to form the rings in the centre. At the extreme edge of the coin, the image of the polar bears become more obvious while individual design features endless shapes. The design is meticulously crafted with astounding detail, and beautifully enhanced with myriad shades of translucent blue to capture the reflective essence of a kaleidoscope.

Packaging:

Your coins are encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded box that stores each of your three coins in separate drawers and includes space for your kaleidoscope and coin certificates.

Comments about 1 oz. Pure Silver Coloured 3-Coin Subscription – Canadiana Kaleidoscope – Mintage: 7500 (2016):

So clearly the Mint has issues with its "overseas" cardboard box and Kaleidoscope manufacturer. If I'm buying from the Royal Canadian Mint why aren't you using Canadian Manufacturer's? It would go nicely with the Canada150 theme!

The printed catalogue and online content originally stated the first coin would come with a box and a kaleidoscope. First coin arrived, no box or kaleidoscope. So I asked online and received this response:

    Hi Kam,

The Royal Canadian Mint-branded box that stores the three coins in separate drawers and includes space for your kaleidoscope and coin certificates is sent with the second coin. This is mentioned on the product page.
Answered on 11/8/2016 by Chad from Ottawa

"This is mentioned on the product page." Now wait a mintute, instead of apologizing for the delay, you're referring me to an edited products page changed to say its now coming with the second coin How RUDE! Guess what I received today?! My second coin and yes you've guessed it...so now what's the excuse?! RCM Management need to apologize! Can't wait to see what this cardboard box made "overseas" is going to look like?

Comments about 1 oz. Pure Silver Coloured 3-Coin Subscription – Canadiana Kaleidoscope – Mintage: 7500 (2016):

I like this coin but I don't like it enough to keep it. It is not a coin that makes me want to open the box every once in awhile to admire it. The design is attractive (though a bit "busy") but the metallic colours end up being a little muted unless viewed in the right light. And my particular example (I think) has I flaw. It is not symmetrical. Viewed at a certain angle, it appears there should be eight lines radiating from the centre of the coin to it's edge. The coin I received only has six. I also wish the edge of the coin was finished is some way.

What I do like about the coin is it's size. In fact, I found myself flipping the coin over just to admire the reverse side where the standard reverse image of the queen jumps out at you on a coin this size. It really feels like I am holding a quality coin whereas when I view the front side it feels like I am holding a medallion.

I would love to see the mint produce more coins of this size and weight. They make you feel like you've gotten a lot for your money, they're great at displaying the art and are less expensive than the 2 ounce coins.

I believe that the design could have been better executed if the color used is bolder (red, dark blue). I like the fact that it's thinner and thus it's bigger in circumference. What i didn't like is that I felt deceived that kaleidoscope is coming with the second coin and that IT IS A TOY! This is for me a false advertising and I feel that deceived.

Truly unique coin 60 millimeter one ounce silver coin what I really like about it is how there's no writing on the kaleidoscope. I am truly looking forward to the other two coins in the series I know I'm going to like them very much. Like you only have one question and I really wish this could happen sometime in the future if you make a red one red version of these coins that would be just fantastic just a thought happy customers are you doing a great job

The coin is really cool, like the size of it. Maybe try and put some of your other designs on coins this large. Kinda seems pointless to include the kaleidascope when it doesnt even work with the coins. Just dont see the added value of including with the coins.

Very poor customer service and description. Also the answer to the question as to when the gift box and kaleidoscope ships. It says with first coin!

This is probably one of the coolest subscriptions from the RCM to date. The one ounce coins are the thinnest ever and wide (60mm)

The first coin with the polar bears is stunning and the addition of a kaleidoscope and a custom box with drawers for each coin is a big plus.

I look forward to receiving each and everyone of these three "firsts" from the RCM.

                      Love, love it.

The designs are based on an image that a Kaleidoscope toy could display. We believe that including the Kaleidoscope, a toy that was popular many years ago, would be a nice touch to the overall product.
