Never before has snow glistened the way it does on your coin. It features our latest breakthrough innovation: diamond glitter, which is a dusting of fine diamond particles that has been meticulously applied to the coin’s design to recreate the glittering effect of snow and ice. What better way to launch this exciting new technology than an iconic polar bear standing proud in Canada’s quintessential landscape—the Arctic!

A gorgeous design you will admire for years! Hold it in your hand and turn it slowly and watch how the diamond glitter catches the light! Order today!

Special features:
  • A MINT FIRST – DIAMOND GLITTER! Selective use of diamond glitter adds an intensely glittering effect on your coin that recreates the light-reflecting qualities of daylight snow and ice and the colours they create.
  • FINE DIAMOND PARTICLES! A dusting of fine diamond particles was carefully applied to your coin to ensure an even layering over the select design elements.
  • NEVER LOSES SPARKLE! The dazzling effect on your coin is sealed to protect it from the elements so that your coin never loses its sparkle!
  • 1-OUNCE 99.99% PURE SILVER COIN! Your coin is GST/HST exempt!
  • LOW MINTAGE: Only 7,500 coins will be made available worldwide.

Design:

Designed by Canadian artist Glen Loates, your coin artfully combines highly detailed engraving with the selective application of colour and diamond glitter to capture the stunning beauty of the Canadian Arctic landscape. In the centre, a polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is sure-footed as it moves across the rugged terrain, where it pauses briefly to lift its head and use its formidable sense of smell. The side-profile view allows for a close examination of the bear’s distinctive outline and the textured rendering of its famously white fur; but it is the glittering appearance of the snow and ice that inevitably draws the eye towards the ground beneath the bear’s feet. Here, the careful application of an innovative technology known as diamond glitter recreates the light-reflecting qualities of snow and ice crystals in daylight—an effect that is further enhanced by the coin’s silver surface in the engraved background, where the frozen Arctic landscape is punctuated by rocky peaks beneath the engraved face value “20 DOLLARS”.

Packaging:

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Disappointed

2

If the coin looked like what is advertised it would have been spectacular, with the hints of blue on the background snow . It set off the bear and makes the snow glisten. But that is not the case. It's a lot of money to spend if it's not what is advertised, don't get me wrong, the coin is beautiful but not what I expected. Disappointing ☹️

is the diamond from Canada?

Ag

Hello Ag from BC. Due to the application and manufacturing process to create these coins, we cannot guarantee that these are 100% Canadian diamonds.

how many coins are planned in this series, what are they, and approximate release dates

jo

Thanks for your question Jo. There is no set number of products planned in the series. We did however, just launch a second one called Glistening North: The Arctic Tern - it launched yesterday.

Libby (Product Team)

Although face value is 20.00 the coin would be worth what anot ounce of silver is worth, right?
