Careful sculpting and finely detailed engraving capture the natural beauty of sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaves in all their intricate beauty. A true-to-life recreation of the leaf's silhouette, the coin's unusual shape provides a fitting canvas for this celebration of a Canadian icon, whose irregular edges and five palmate lobes have been painstakingly replicated through a labour-intensive process. Designed by Canadian artist Joel Kimmel, your coin includes multiple engraved maple leaves that fill the entirety of the reverse. The scattered positioning of these leaves deliberately evokes an autumn day, when the leaves have softly tumbled to cover the ground. While the reverse also features the engraved face value "20 DOLLARS" and the year "2017", the spotlight shines brightly on the three gilded maple leaves that each represent 50 years of Canadian history—a symbolic nod to the 150th anniversary of Confederation. The selective application of gold plating technology further enhances the deeply engraved veining, while giving each leaf a rich golden hue that shines as bright as a sunny autumn day.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

The Maple Leaf

Remembering Canada leads you to the Maple Leaf one of Canada's ICONS.

Why not the same packaging as the others?

If you are gonna charge insane prices for your coins then you can spend a little time and effort in terms of the overall appeal and packaging of this coin. Why have two coins that were the exact same shape in the same holder and then make this one with the same shape as the others and yet still has different packaging. RCM needs to wake up if you want to retain customers

Exceptional Coin

Beautiful coin, one I will put on display.

It's a beautiful coin but it should have come like the other 20 dollar colored coin I have, inset in a wooden maple leaf at can be displayed right away

What is this coin encapsulation in? Is it enclosed in a case, rather than the red box?

Hi mapperD, This coin is encapsulated in a maple leaf shaped capsule and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Why does this coin being the third in the maple leaf shaped one ounce series not come with the wooden maple leaf display case? The first sold for $149.95, the second for $154.95 and the third for $161.95. The third being the most expensive but without the wooden maple leaf display case. I would like to understand the rationale as this makes no sense to me aside the fact that the RCM is grossly reducing the quality to increase their profits... it's a shame!

Thank you for your interest in the coin. This was a business decision that was made in light of today's increasing manufacturing costs.

I agree... I don't see me spending anymore money on this website. With them now peddling New Zealand coins purely for profit margins, collectibilty of these has become a bad hobby.
