A beautiful gift that celebrates Canada!

No other symbol strikes a deep, emotional chord for Canadians than the iconic maple leaf. It has become synonymous with a vast expanse of land, which is filled with stunning sights and places that are as diverse as the nearly 35 million people who call Canada “home.” Now, the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates the iconic maple leaf — and the rich diversity of all that it represents — with this finely detailed coin.

A beautiful gift for someone who enjoys Canada and the maple leaf. Order your coin today!

Special features:
•  This beautiful coin offers a creative portrait of an iconic Canada. It pays tribute to the maple leaf as a national icon and all that it represents–as depicted through the use of symbols that represent Canada and its different regions.
•  This stylized design has been enhanced with 5 different finishes that showcase the dynamic line work and interplay between each element that makes up the maple leaf.
•  This $10 coin is certified to be 99.99% pure silver, and features pure gold plating that enhances and highlights the design's intricate details.
•  Your coin is GST/HST exempt.

Design:
Your coin represents a map-like representation of Canada through the use of symbolism. The maple leaf's outline mimics Canada's geographical shape, stretching out to cover the far reaches of Canada. As though travelling from one coast to another, the Canadian Rocky Mountains and a white-tailed deer in the leaf's left-most point represent the rugged wilderness of the western provinces. Behind the deer, wheat symbolises the grain-growing Canadian prairies. The fishing industry and the Eastern provinces are represented in the right leaf point by a fish, a boat and the famed Peggy's Point Lighthouse. A partial map of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut — home to many of Canada's native peoples — dominates the leaf's middle point, while the Tower of Peace at the base symbolises the government and the tie that binds all Canadians together.

Did you know...
•  Nova Scotia's rocky shores feature hundreds of lighthouses–but none are as famous as The Peggy's Point Lighthouse! It is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world and it draws half a million visitors each year.
•  Canada is one of the largest wheat producers in the world. Wheat is the basis for many of our foods, but it's also an ingredient for other products including adhesives, cosmetics and even concrete!
•  The breathtaking Canadian Rocky Mountains (commonly known as the Rockies) offer some of the most famous and well-known mountain scenery. Nearly 50 of its peaks surpass the 3,350 metre-mark—in fact, Mount Robson's peak in British Columbia is the highest at 3,954 metres!

In his first design for the Royal Canadian Mint, Toronto-based artist Kwame Delfish has opted to look beyond the maple leaf as the sole representation of Canada. “The inspiration for my art comes to me as I go through life viewing the world–looking beyond what's directly in front of me.” His use of symbols for each region creates a unique portrait of Canada, and offers an interpretation of what the maple leaf represents when used as a national icon.

Packaging:
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

When I learned about this coin in 2015 I was really excited. It was such a beautiful item I wished I could purchase one for everyone I knew.I ended up purchasing five (5) coins for my sons, my husband and a friend. The coin is so special to me I will continue to buy them whenever the occasion arise. It is extremely creative coin that captures a cross-section of Canada and truly delights. There must be a spot to personalize this coin.

The coin depicts too much east coast references and very few prairie and west coast references. The symbols used on the east coast are now more pertinent on the west coast. by and large, a very prejudiced coin.

I buy coins for my grandchildren and sets also so they can see how we progressed as a nation. The new Canada Rectangular Flag is a great example of a great coin. I was in Ottawa May 27 and 28 and spent time at the mint and saw it first hand, if you have never been there it is worth the visit Keep up the great work Canada Mint

This is a birthday present for my wife. She has a hard time providing me with suggestions so I like to come up with something unique and special from time to time. A limited edition, gold plated coin fit the bill nicely. It's special, just like her.
