This coin, along with the $20 for $20 Star Trek coin are/were my first purchase. I thought it was very cool with excellent detail. This would make a beautiful 1 oz $109 coin. Other dinosaur coins would be great in this style $20 for $20 and 1 oz. The colored dinosaur coins don't have the same detail or appeal, and seem more for kids. BUT, what kid wouldn't want one. lol

This coin comes packaged in a glossy graphic folder. However, we do sell a collector case for $29.95 that can house all your $20 for $20 coins (and $25 for $25 coins). Includes a bottom tray with a special cut out for you to store your coin graphic folders - See more at: http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/face-value-collector-case-prod2600993

                  A:

Fine silver is neither sterling or plated. Fine silver refers to the purity of the coin and it is currently the highest amount of silver we offer. Generally speaking, fine silver is 99.99% pure, while sterling is 92.5% silver and is usually mixed with a alloy (copper). Silver plated means a thin silver coating (either fine or sterling) over a base metal.

                  A:

Thank you for your question. All coins manufactured by the Mint are legal tender. However, unlike Canadian circulation coins, collector coins are non-circulating legal tender (NCLT). As such, these coins are not intended for daily commercial transactions and accepting them as payment or for redemption is at the discretion of businesses and financial institutions.

Is the mint misleading collectors by charging collectors $200+ for coins that have only 2 oz of silver? Tell me what bank or business will pay me $200 for A coin that has only $40+ of silver? I am seeing a lot of mint product(a lot of which I bought) selling for half or 3/4 of what the mint sold them for.

                  Hi Sleddog,

Thanks for your question. There are many factors that influence the price of a collector coin and its after-sale market value, including mintage, theme, design and technology.
