Actual display area size is misleading based on 80mm

1

This items description is misleading based on a description of 80mm x 80 mm one would assume a 55mm coin would fit in the frame until you receive it and findout the 80mm x 80mm is the outside measurement the inside measurement where the coin fits is less than 50mm

i have a "de havilland beaver" coin (airplane) from a few years ago. will it fit this frame. thank you, jeremy

JJ

Hi JJ, If you're referring to our "1/25-Oz Gold Coin - De Havilland Beaver (2008)", yes it will fit in the 80mm X 80mm frame. The coin's diameter is 13.92mm. The display area of this frame is 50mm X 50mm, so there's plenty of space.

Chad

What Diameter of coin will fit this frame?

Renee

Hi Renee, The display area of this frame is 50mm x 50mm. So any of our 1 ounce coins will fit in this frame. Our 1 ounce coins are usually 38mm or 40mm in diameter (excluding protective capsule).

Chad

Is this the correct size frame to hold one of the 125th Anniversary of the Invention of Basketball Silver Coins? If not, please advise which is the correct frame size. Thank you.

Robert7200

Hi Robert7200, Yes, the 80mm X 80mm frame is large enough for the 125th Anniversary of the Invention of Basketball Silver Coin (diameter: 36.07)

Chad

Will a 40 mm coin fit in this? I am wondering about the half oz silver maple leaf shaped coin.

Danteisinferno

Hi Danteisinferno, Yes, a 40mm diameter coin will fit in the 80mm X 80mm frame. The display area of this frame is 50mm X 50mm.

Chad

Is there a clasp of any kind to hang this product on a wall?

Auntpearly

Hi Auntpearly, There is not a clasp. But the frame is 34mm wide, so the rim on either side is wide enough to hand on a nail. You may also consider adding a clasp or other hanging device to the back of the frame.

Chad

can the display box handle a 4 inch medallion 3/8 thick?

needtoknow

Hi needtoknow, The display area of this floating frame is only 1.96 inches by 1.96 inches (50mm x 50mm), so your 4 inch diameter medallion would not fit. However, we do sell larger frames that would fit that size medallion; Floating Frame Coin Accessory (240 mm x 240 mm x 34 mm) Floating Frame Coin Accessory (270 mm x 222 mm x 34 mm)

Chad

Its unclear how these work with the coin or what it would look like. You should show a sample(2) display with a coin(s) in it. It implies only one coin per frame which seems strange for the larger ones.

Blackbird

Hi Blackbird - we have posted a video of this coin frame in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfeqLrY476w

Can you make small video showing how it works. Like can you hang it on a wall; display it on a desk? Is it re-usable or does the plastic strech? How difficult is it to put 22 coins in?

pgmr

Hi pgmr, We've uploaded a small video to the product page. It is reusable and the plastic does stretch. the number of coins you can fit will depend on the size of the coins.

Anonymous

Hi pgmr, We've added a video showing how to open, add a coin, and close the frame. The frames are suitable for hanging on walls. The frames are also reusable, however, the silicone membranes can stretch over time, So if you place large coins inside, they will stretch, therefore you may not be able to insert much smaller coins later on. Probably the best thing to do is to dedicate some frames to display large coins, and others for smaller coins. 22 coins might be a little too much for a single frame. If you are looking to store or display that many coins at the same time, please, keep visiting mint.ca, we are exploring other storage and display options right now. Thank you for your patience.
