About the first coin design:

Based on an image by Canadian nature photographer Jim Cumming, the first coin in your subscription transports the viewer to one of Ontario's many lakes, where an iconic common loon (Gavia immer) has set up its summer home. Gliding across the glassy surface of its habitat, the loon tilts upwards in the water to stretch its wings, which offers the viewer a better glimpse of its remarkable wing feathers. The application of vibrant colour recreates the life-like qualities of the original photograph and captures the loon in fine detail, from its checkered plumage to the unique black-and-white collar beneath its jet-black head. The engraving brings a beautiful element of dimension to the overall design, which truly conveys the wild, untamed beauty of Ontario's lakes. The reverse also features the engraved word "CANADA" and the dates "1867-2017" to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Packaging:

Includes a deluxe collector case to store your 13 encapsulated coins and will be shipped to you with the fourth coin as part of this 13-coin subscription program.

Comments about Celebrating Canada's 150th Coin Series: 1/2 oz. Pure Silver 13-Coin Monthly Subscription (2017):

The coins aren't too bad. The Mint has better but a nice keepsake. But don't hold your breath waiting for the magazine. I have received 4 coins to date but have yet to see anything regarding the magazine. Not good service. If they can't supply, then don't offer. Would not recommend to anyone.

Received the case for the 150th series today (24 Jan 2017). It was worth the wait this time. Overall the case is well designed and appointed. The only issue I had was the final finish needed one more rub to take the minor roughness off. Correcting the issue was easily achieved with a gentle rub with a brown paper bag.

Finally received 1st coin with Collector case and couldn't be more impressed. Case is superb quality and coins are even better in hand. Only thing that could be better is Outer Sleeve for Case would look better with box form outer shell rather than the black sleeve.

Image on coin is much darker than in online pictures. This is quite disappointing! Will keep for its celebratory meaning, but on a technical assessment: not worth it.

I ordered this and got the first coin and case a few days ago.

The case is about the best I've seen. That alone is worth it. It's great to get 2017 coins so early in 2016 too. The picture is very detailed. If you're looking for flaws, you won't find any.

The COA area has two sheets of pouches where you can store your COAs. It makes it for a more orderly area.

Sure a magazine subscription is great, but even greater is collecting these fantastic coins!

Why would you use a fox on one of the coins when that fox is especially located in the states.

                          A:

This 13-coin series is inspired by photographs from Canadian Geographic magazine, with each coin representing each of Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories. We feel that featuring the swift fox is not only relevant to represent Saskatchewan, but it also underlines the success of the Swift Fox Reintroduction Program.

Grasslands National Park of Canada is currently participating as a member of the Canadian Swift Fox team. Researchers now estimate the swift fox population along the Alberta-Saskatchewan border to be 560 foxes. Through success of the Swift Fox Reintroduction Program, the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada changed its listing from extirpated to endangered in 1998.

The information about the coin is on the certificate that accompanies each coin. For the subscription, the first coin is shipped inside the collector case; the certificate is located under the black felt tray that holds the coin.

                          Hi Lisa,

The default delivery schedule is 1 coin per month with the first coin and case shipping together in the first shipment. If you'd like the first two coins shipped with the case please call our customer service department (1-800-267-1871) and they can make that change for you. They may also be able to tell you if they could arrive in time for Christmas.
