About the first coin design:

Based on an image by Canadian nature photographer Jim Cumming, the first coin in your subscription transports the viewer to one of Ontario's many lakes, where an iconic common loon (Gavia immer) has set up its summer home. Gliding across the glassy surface of its habitat, the loon tilts upwards in the water to stretch its wings, which offers the viewer a better glimpse of its remarkable wing feathers. The application of vibrant colour recreates the life-like qualities of the original photograph and captures the loon in fine detail, from its checkered plumage to the unique black-and-white collar beneath its jet-black head. The engraving brings a beautiful element of dimension to the overall design, which truly conveys the wild, untamed beauty of Ontario's lakes. The reverse also features the engraved word "CANADA" and the dates "1867-2017" to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Packaging:

Includes a deluxe collector case to store your 13 encapsulated coins and will be shipped to you with the fourth coin as part of this 13-coin subscription program.

The coins aren't too bad. The Mint has better but a nice keepsake. But don't hold your breath waiting for the magazine. I have received 4 coins to date but have yet to see anything regarding the magazine. Not good service. If they can't supply, then don't offer. Would not recommend to anyone.

WORTH WAITING FOR

Received the case for the 150th series today (24 Jan 2017). It was worth the wait this time. Overall the case is well designed and appointed. The only issue I had was the final finish needed one more rub to take the minor roughness off. Correcting the issue was easily achieved with a gentle rub with a brown paper bag.

Finally received 1st coin with Collector case and couldn't be more impressed. Case is superb quality and coins are even better in hand. Only thing that could be better is Outer Sleeve for Case would look better with box form outer shell rather than the black sleeve.

A terrific way to start off a child, or a grandchild, collecting with a meaningful set of Canadian-focused coins related to the 150th celebration of the country's formation. Heirloom to be handed down.

Hello I asked this question earlier in the summer and received an answer but what I had been told did not happen. I am extremely interested in buying only the coin Float Plane on the McKenzie. I was told I could buy it individually at Canada Post in September but it has never been made available and now on your page it says "not available in store" . Am I able to purchase it individually and if so, how? Thank you

Cathy

Hi Cathy, Due to the popularity of these coins Canada Post stores either sold out quickly or some didn't end up getting any. I've been told that some Canada Post stores may still have some, but they may not be in your immediate area. I also checked our inventory and we do not have any more to sell. We recommend either contacting more Canada Post stores or any of our authorized coin dealers who may have some to sell. Here's the link to our dealer locator page; http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/customer-service/numismatic-dealer-locator-1400026

Chad

The first coin I received with my subscription was #2, the Kayaking coin. Why did I receive that one instead of #1?

Curious

Hi Curious, The Kayak coin is actually the first coin in the subscription. The images are not in order of delivery. Please refer to the delivery schedule listed further down on the product page; http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/coins-prod2730029

Chad

Can I buy the Drum Dancer coin separately?

judyacres

Hi judyacres, Yes, our partner Canada Post is selling the coins of this subscription individually. However, the Drum Dancer coin is the last coin and will not be released (sold) until April 2018. Please check with your local Canada Post Store then.

Chad

If i missed the first three coins, am I still have a chance to buy it back? Because i just ordering on July 2.

JK

Hi JK, Since you subscribed to the 13-coin subscription you're guaranteed to receive all the coins plus the free collector case. A coin will arrive approximately one month apart for 13 months. The free case comes with your 4th coin. If you'd like to receive the first 4 coins (that have been released so far) and the free collector case in your first shipment, please call our customer service department and they can do this for you (1-800-267-1871).

Chad

If I want to buy all the coins in of this series. Do I put 13 in the quantity?

Melody

Hi Melody, That's great! These coins are beautiful. To order all 13 coins you only need to subscribe once. So for quantity just enter 1. This will ensure you receive a coin each month for the next 13 months. And the free collector case comes with your 4th coin.

Chad

Hi, What happened to the coins already issued in previous months? How do I purchase them? if I just subscribe now

Wil

Hi Wil, If you order now you will receive one coin a month for 13 months. Your credit card is only charged for each coin when each coin ships. The free case is shipped with the 4th coin. If you'd like to receive the 3 coins that have already been released in your first order, you can call our customer service department (1-800-267-1871) and they can make this change for you. That way you could get the 4th coin and the free case sooner.

Chad

Love the coins but NOT the fact that each is not identified to a province. To which province does the loon refer ? canola Field ?

Zoomie

Thank you for your interest in these coins. The identification to a province or territory is on the certificate for each coin. The Common Loon refers to Ontario. The Canola Field refers to Manitoba.
