BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! THE FOURTH AND FINAL COIN! FINELY DETAILED ENGRAVING! Large diameter (85 mm) is a fitting canvas! Order today!

The bugling call of the elk (or wapiti) is a telltale sign of fall in the western Canadian wilderness. During the rut, the male's high-pitched bellows seem to resonate across the landscape, filling the crisp autumn air. The bull's loudest vocalizations make his presence known—a distinctive call of the wild that serves as a show of strength and vitality among this species, beautifully captured on this stunning fine silver coin.

A gorgeous coin to add to your already stunning silver collection. Order today!

Special features:
  • HANDPOLISHED TO PROOF PERFECTION! Each engraved detail shines against the mirror-like background.
  • STUNNING SENSE OF TEXTURE AND DIMENSION! Your coin's large diameter (85 mm) is a fitting canvas for the second-largest member of the deer family and allows for outstanding detail work that adds a stunning sense of texture and dimension to this wildlife portrait!
  • FOURTH AND FINAL COIN IN THE SERIES! Back by popular demand, this is the fourth and final coin in the Call of the Wild Series!
  • INCLUDES SERIALIZED CERTIFICATE! The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. Most of these are serialized certifications, meaning that each certificate is given a unique number, starting at 1.
  • 1/2 KILOGRAM PURE SILVER COIN! Your coin is GST/HST exempt!
  • WOODEN DISPLAY CASE! Your coin is beautifully packaged in a wooden case that provides for an elegant presentation.
  • LOW MINTAGE: Only 650 coins will be made worldwide.

Design:

Designed by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc, your coin features a side profile of a majestic elk (Cervus canadensis). Detailed engraving adds a sense of texture to this majestic species' fur and towering rack of antlers, which overlap the field. Lifting its heavy head towards the sky, the bull releases its high-pitched cry into the autumn breeze, allowing it to resonate across the forest and river valley depicted in the background.

Did you know...
  • The elk is one of the largest species of deer in the world—in fact, it is second only to the moose in size!
  • A healthy male (bull) in his prime stands at an average height of 150 centimetres at the shoulders, but its towering rack of antlers can add up to 1.2 metres to its width and height. They can also weigh up to 22 kilograms!
  • The bull re-grows its antlers each spring. Contrary to what some might think, you can't get an accurate sense of an elk's age by the number of tines on its antlers. A single tine typically appears in a bull's second year, and at least one more is added each year—but only if the bull is in good health. An older bull in poor health may have just as many tines as a younger, healthier one.
  • More than half of Canada's elk population is found in British Columbia, and there is also a significant population in Alberta. Thousands more can be found in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, while elk were reintroduced to northern Ontario and Yukon during the last century.

Very nice quality and detail but expensive. Nice background pattern behind the queen's head on the reverse. The head does fit the body (if you have ever seen an elk). Expensive but I have the other 3 coins to make the set. Fewer issued than the previous coins.

Dirty RCM tricks

This is just plain dirty and shame on he RCM! The roaring Grizzly was the last of the series and then the mint decides to change it on a whim at some cheap attempt of a cash grab. Terrible and how can you trust them with any other series that they won't do the same. My nclt collecting days are almost done and this just makes the decision all that much easier. Say goodbye to my 5 grand a year RCM.

Really ?

The Roaring Grizzly was supposed to be the third and FINAL coin in the series. I guess the MINT must have meant that it would be the third and final coin in the series for that price, and then they will be raising the price more than 10% for all future coins in the series. I already have a considerable investment in the Call of the Wild series which I thought was complete, finding out there is more is very disappointing. How many more coins will there be? And why increase the mintage, pick a number and stick with it. Gives me more incentive to start selling my collection than it does to see it grow! Doesn't really matter what the coin looks like, I'm not impressed.
