Breathtaking colours in 3D!

One of Australia's most beautiful, most distinctive native creatures, the internationally renowned crimson rosella (Platycercus elegans) is most well known for the entrancing colours of its bright, vibrant plumage. Defined by a brilliant crimson body, bright blue cheeks and a stunning mix of colours in the wings, this breathtaking creature is largely found throughout eastern and south-eastern Australia – brightening the skies, and brightening the hearts of all lucky enough to see them in flight.

A beautiful coin celebrating the beautiful crimson cosella bird from Australia. An ideal gift for someone who loves birds, or perfect for you to add to your bird coin collection.

Special features:
•  Extremely exclusive! Worldwide mintage restricted to a mere 2,500 coins!
•  Struck to proof quality from 20g of sterling silver.
•  Official legal tender issue – measures 38.61mm in diameter.
•  Beautifully presented within a plush, attractive case.
•  Complete with an individually serial-numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Design:
A groundbreaking legal tender coin, created with a stunning 3D minting technique, the 2014 $5 crimson rosella '3D Wings' Silver Proof forms a truly spectacular tribute to one of Australia's most flamboyant native species. An amazing visual effect, the rosella's brilliantly coloured wings actually soar above the surface of the coin, just as this famous Australian parrot soars above the lush Australian landscape! A masterwork of detail and perspective, capturing the rosella's vibrant cornucopia of colours, this eye-catching Aussie icon is the perfect subject for such a spellbinding, highly original minting technique.

3D Low Mintage Coins

5

The coins I bought were bought for their beauty, uniqueness and low Mintage. Low Mintage coins rise in value quicker that a high Mintage coin. My own opinion is that coins strike me as a work of art. The work and love that goes into creating these works of art are my gain. I love the artistry !

Exquisite colours with a 3D affect but I feel it is on the expensive side for a five dollar and not pure silver so tax cost comes on the table to.Sill I am glad that I do own one.

Raised Wings do little to redeam coin.

I found the coin to be a bit gimmicky, and not of the quality to which I am accustomed through the Canadian Mint. It has a low mintage, which is good, but the design isn't as clean as many of the other coins I have seen. The raised wing tips look a bit forced. I'm keeping mine because of the low mintage, but I wouldn't be interested in it otherwise.
