About the first coin, Sacrifice Medal:

The first coin in your subscription presents a faithful reproduction of the Sacrifice Medal, with all of the details that carry the full weight of the symbolism from the original design. The real-life medal has a diameter of 36 millimetres; here, your coin's 40 mm diameter allows for a partial view of the watered ribbon attached to a suspension bar at the top of the medal, which is ornamented with the Royal Crown (St. Edward's Crown) to represent The Queen as Canada's Head of State and Head of the armed forces. Selective colour re-creates the ribbon's black central stripe that symbolizes mourning and grief; this is flanked by the red stripes that represent the blood spilled, while smaller white stripes speak of peace and hope for a better future.

On the medal itself, detailed engraving recreates the familiar representation of the cloaked statue "Canada" found at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in Vimy, France. With a downcast expression that personifies a nation's sorrow for her fallen, the mournful figure faces right towards the flat horizon—itself a representation of the loneliness and isolation of mourning—while the word "SACRIFICE" looms just above it in the sky.

Your coin also features the engraved double date "1917-2017" to represent the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, while the obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Packaging:

Each of your four coins are encapsulated and presented individually in Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshells with black beauty boxes.

A very nice tribute

This is a very nice 4 coin collection that pays tribute to Canadians with outstanding achievements and has made Canada proud. It's unfortunate the Mint did not include an attractive (wooden) display case with the subscription, it would have made the set outstanding.

Love the simple design

Love the coin the image from the original medal and the colours are very appropriate. I look forward to the other coins in the series. any more detail would certainly take away from the focus of the coin. The mother from Vimy is something that help us remember the sacrifice. The second i saw the coin was one that i new i had to have. The low mintage was surprising. The coins are a keepsake of Canada's fallen heros

A Great Way To Remember

This is a nice looking coin. When compared to other coins of the same price, i would have to say that there is alot more detail on them. Im not saying that this coin is bad in any way, and it really does have one central focus but maybe a little more detail might make the coin a little better.

93% SOLD! Canadian Honours - 1 oz. Pure Silver Coloured 4-Coin Subscription - Mintage: 5500 (2017)

I have purchased the sacrifice coin as an individual purchase and debated on purchasing each new coin in this series when it came out. In hindsight I should have purchased the subscription. It states the subscription is 93% sold so my question is will each new coin from the series be available to purchase individually regardless if the subscription is sold out? Thank you Karen

none

Hi, If/when one of the single coins sells out then we must stop selling the subscription. If you purchased the Sacrifice coin directly from the Royal Canadian Mint we can switch you over to the subscription. If this is the case, please call our customer service department (1-800-268-6468) and one of our representatives will be happy to help you with this.

Chad

I have looked at this fabulous coin, but cannot relate to the RCM description as follows..."your coin's 40 mm diameter allows for a partial view of the watered ribbon attached to a suspension bar at the top of the medal"....can you please explain where the water ribbon and suspension bar is? Thank you.

Gary

Hello and thank you. Yes, your coin shows a partial view of the ribbon and it's colours (Red, White and Black) from the actual medal. These colours are featured on both sides of the central coin design. On the medal however, the ribbon is attached to a suspension bar at the top of the medal, which includes the Royal Crown.

Matt (Product Team)

This coin series needs a collectors box to truly capture the spirit of combining all 4 medals/coins together. 4 x clam shells doesn't create that unity of intent. Can a collectors box be created please?

Gaz

Hi Gaz! Alas, we can't create one...but it's a very good point. I'll be sure to recommend this for similar products.

Jamie (Product Team)

Are these going to be available individually? I have had the honour of receiving the Order of Military Merit and would like to acquire that coin specifically.

Abdoc33

Hi Abdoc33, Yes, all 4 coins in the Canadian Honours subscription will be available to purchase individually. The Military Merit coin will be available to purchase in early June.

Chad

Why do you always release sets but not boxes to display them in...this is a contributing factor to NOT buying the set...

Jamie

Hi Jamie, That's unfortunate. But I understand and will be sure this feedback is reviewed.

Jamie (Product Team)

When will we have the option of seeing the other 3 coins, in this 4 coin set? I'd like to subscribe but I'm hesitant to, if I'm unable view what the other coins in this set look like.

Isabel

Hello, unfortunately we are unable to provide a date as to when the remaining coin images will be available. Due to the approval process in creating a coin, we are unable to show the coin image in advance of the launch date.

Matt (Product Team)

it may help to google the intended medal types for the remaining three coins listed - not to say that they will be exact copies used by RCM, but to appreciate the potential design, style and colour that could be used. Hope it helps!

Gary

Please clarify the wording. You print Sacrifice Medal. You also print Face Value of $20.00. Is this a coin or a medal? If a coin where is the $20.00 located on the medal? Thank you.

Persaverance

Hello. It is a coin. The Sacrifice coin features the same design elements as the Sacrifice Medal. The coin has a face value of $20 on the Obverse side of the coin.

Matt (Product Team)

where are the pictures of the other three coins in the Canadian Honours 4 coin subscription. It only shows one.

Judy

Hello, unfortunately we are unable to release the other 3 coin images at this time and they will be available at a later date. Thank you.

Matt (Product Team)

It would be nice to see an image of the obverse of this coin. Is the obverse identical for all four coins? Thank you.

Aberdeen

Hi Aberdeen, We've added the missing photo on the product page. Thank you for bringing it to our attention!

Chad

Will the series of four honour coins(Vimy etc.) include one wooden box showing 4 coins?Would prefer this over four maroon cases. If not, what is suggestion?

Bubbles100

Hello. Currently there is no plan to include a unique box to house all 4 coins. Thank you.
