Senior Infrastructure Analyst

    SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the direction and bound by the policies of the Royal Canadian Mint, the Senior Infrastructure Analyst (SIA) interfaces and interacts with stakeholders to analyze, interpret and understand complex systems and their requirements.   The SIA, in collaboration with the Infrastructure Manager, designs enterprise solutions based on accepted architectural standards.  The SIA actively participates in RCM projects by documenting requirements, attending meetings, reporting progress against the project plan, and delivering enterprise solutions. 

    The SIA must possess strong interpersonal skills, work well in a team environment, and have the ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements and explain technical issues to business users.  The SIA is a member of a larger technical team and will provide guidance and mentoring to junior members as required on complex technical issues. 

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
    English is essential. Bilingualism is an asset.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and Previous Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, College Diploma in IT or equivalent industry certification(s) highly desirable.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively senior experience encompassing all aspects of large system implementations including project management and project support, deployment, operations, and life cycle management in an enterprise environment.
    • Strong and recent system management skills using a management suite is required and Microsoft-centric is highly desirable.
    • Hands-on technical and functional experience with a corporate grade Enterprise Resource Planning system desirable (Microsoft Dynamics AX would be highly desirable).
    • Experience with manufacturing, shipping/warehouse management, sales and marketing or financial systems desirable.

    • Ability to exercise judgment and initiative, to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships;
    • Ability to exercise tact and discretion;
    • Ability to set priorities and to solve conflicting situations, and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines; 
    • Ability to mentor and cross train;
    • Strong technical writing skills to lead in the production and maintenance of structured IT documentation.
    • Skilled in understanding systems from a top down perspective, the ability to understand a system and its interdependencies as well as its business impact;
    • Project planning and tracking techniques and skills;
    • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and leadership skills;
    • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills;
    • Must be able to work well in a team environment;
    • An ability to actively listen, appreciate differing opinions and foster critical thinking.

    Knowledge:

    • Enterprise experience in design, deployment and management of complex systems.
    • Knowledge of enterprise-grade IT processes for operations
    • Knowledge of enterprise disaster recovery approaches and methodologies
    • Knowledge in the following software technologies preferred: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7 (or similar), MS Active Directory, Microsoft Server 2008/2012, MS SQL 2008/2012/2014, Oracle RDBMS, MS SharePoint 2010/2013, MS PowerShell, and the MS System Management Suite including Operations Manager, Configuration Manager, Service Manager, and Orchestrator, knowledge of virtualization technologies - particularly from VMware and Microsoft, knowledge of knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and AX technologies;
    • Knowledge of the following hardware technologies preferred; configuration and management of industry leading switching and routing technologies such as Cisco, HP, and Juniper, knowledge of enterprise storage solutions from HP, EMC and NetApp, knowledge of Fibre Channel and iSCSI Storage Area Networking, knowledge of enterprise servers from HP or other tier-1 vendor;
    • Large systems life cycle management and process management using industry standards such as ITIL.
