    Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Health & Safety, the Coordinator, Corporate Health & Safety is responsible for providing assistance, development and support in the management and resolution of health and safety related issues at the Ottawa facility.  


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides professional services such ergonomic assessments, inspection and auditing, ESHIA and other expert services as required. Conducts risk assessments, providing interpretation of regulatory requirements, and evaluating internal Health & Safety impact assessments.
    • Provides assistance and support in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs. Coordinates and delivers Corporate Health and Safety training in both official languages.
    • Functions as a resource during emergency response situations, assists in the investigation and review of all accidents/incidents, writes and submits associated reports and follows up on corrective actions identified to eliminate recurrences and mitigate safety risks.  Supports the Nurse in injury claims management, RTW and Wellness initiatives.
    • Provides recommendations to RCM staff at the Ottawa facility regarding all health and safety issues, performance measures and legislative compliance requirements.
    • Coordinates the Work Place Health & Safety Committee's activities and serves as a mentor for the group. Plans and coordinates Corporate Health & Safety promotional activities.  Disseminates required information and reports to senior management and the Workplace Health and Safety Committee.


    REQUIREMENTS:

    • College diploma or certificate in health and safety or a combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of health & safety, preferably in a manufacturing operation.
    • Candidates with a CRSP certification or who are working toward the designation are preferred.
    • Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part II, the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and the regulatory framework in Canada as it pertains to workplace health and safety.
    • Working knowledge of occupational health & safety programs, WHMIS, and experience conducting job hazard analyses, monitoring indoor air quality and assessing exposure to chemical/physical agents.
    • Able to work well under pressure and effectively deal with changing priorities.
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • High level of integrity.
    • Ability to be autonomous.
    • Able to collaborate with other team members.
    • Pro-active and open to receiving and making suggestions.
    • Significant attention to detail and data accuracy.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Bilingualism is mandatory.
