    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue & Cost, the Financial Analyst, Canadian and Foreign assists their leader and peers to effectively manage all revenues and costs associated with the Canadian Circulation and Foreign businesses including financial planning, budgeting, and accurate reporting in the financial control system as well as to effectively manage the variance analysis model calculations and update the model for new information including new products.  The incumbent also supports the Senior Manager, Revenue & Cost objectives by demonstrating their understanding of the business's revenue and expense drivers to assist in analyzing and recommending business solutions that will drive future growth.

    The Financial Analyst, Canadian & Foreign is an integral part of a team of finance professionals that works well with other stakeholders at all levels to influence changes as required to deliver best practice Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) support. The incumbent focuses on creating their own measures of excellence, and their organizational skills and analytical thinking capabilities ensure a successful outcome for the RCM's FP&A team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the development of Canadian Circulation and Foreign business budgets, forecasts, and the annual Corporate Plan while working closely with operational contacts in the business.
    • Responsible for the timely analysis of Canadian Circulation and Foreign business financial results including monthly and quarterly explanations of variances vs. budget and forecast.
    • Assist in the development and perform as the lead analyst in the maintenance of the Variance Analysis model for all businesses including updating for new products and prices.  
    • Responsible for any internal weekly reports or ad hoc reports relating the Canadian Circulation and Foreign Circulation businesses.
    • Responsible for high level tracking on Foreign sales contracts, and analysis of project performance.
    • Prepare and send periodic reports to the Government of Canada relating to Canadian Circulation.
    • Assist in ensuring an integration of operational strategies and plans.
    • Action other responsibilities as assigned, including projects or initiatives to ensure successful delivery on FP&A objectives.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
    • Professional accounting designation and/or MBA.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related business experience, specifically related to internal revenue and expense reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
    • Strong working knowledge of how to design and implement rolling forecast and budgetary processes and systems.
    • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and written to compile analytical data, build forecasting and operations models, understanding the revenue and expense drivers and recommending appropriate action plans.
    • Strong active listener, with the ability to influence others to improve business line results.
    • Team player, with strong work ethic and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities against tight reporting deadlines.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Bilingualism is an asset.
    • Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
