Casual Protective Services Officers are used to supplement regular staffing and accommodate surge requirements. The incumbent will work as an integral team member, protecting life, and the assets of the Royal Canadian Mint. Protective Services Officers conduct and facilitate risk assessments; provide security advice and direction; conduct surveillance; perform preventive patrols; conduct searches and escorts, control and monitor access; enforce security policies and regulations; respond to emergencies; identify, investigate and action security anomalies; prepare and submit detailed reports.
The candidate must be of impeccable character, sound judgment, observant, meticulous, and of inquisitive nature; capable of operating confidently both autonomously and as a team member. Excellent oral and written communication skills are vital, as is demonstrated skill/certification in crime prevention program administration, crisis intervention, investigative techniques, first aid & CPR, and use of force and firearms safety. Applicants must undergo a psychological and medical assessment, and possess a valid RPAL. Applicable educational/ professional qualifications in the security management or related field would be considered an asset.
Applicants will be subject to an intensive background check including Government of Canada (Level II – “Secret”) screening assessment, criminal record and credit checks. This is an ‘on call’ position with no guaranteed hours for which flexibility in availability is crucial as Casual Officers are often required on short notice.
