    SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of Quality Systems Manager and under the direction of Quality Systems Engineers and within the policies and procedures of the Royal Canadian Mint, executes monitor production for effectiveness, procedure and quality adherence.  Assist operators to achieve objectives (e.g. Reduce reject rate, better throughout). Assist engineering during trials, set up boundary samples under the direction of Quality Systems Engineers, assist qualifying raw material. Collect data and information on production processes for analysis and provide corrective action. Assist production in processing non-conforming material. Be part of the action team and to assist operational staff. Audit production processes and work instructions. Assist in NCMR process. Provides training as necessary and provide daily reports to Quality Systems Manager. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and Previous Experience: Mechanical Technologist Diploma or an equivalent recognised professional accreditation. Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment and auditing experience. Bilingualism is an asset.

    Knowledge: Must possess computer (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) analytical and report writing skills; knowledge on how to read and interpret specifications and mechanical drawings using the engineering specification systems (Smarteam); knowledge of ISO policies and standards; knowledge on to measure various parameters; understanding of mechanical concepts.      

     

    Abilities & Skills:

    • Ability to performs quality assurance technical analysis through inspections/audits in order to determine the compliance of all tooling, machine components, raw materials and finished products to Mint and/or customer requirements;
    • Able to monitor production for effectiveness, procedure and quality adherence;
    • Ability to create boundary samples and help production maintain consistency in quality;
    • Ability to qualify incoming materials such as blanks from external suppliers;
    • Able to collect the appropriate data and provide analysis for corrective action and root cause analysis;
    • Ability to analyze problems and situations and find solutions and to operate and perform measurements using equipment and technology when needed;
    • Ability to audit process and define areas that can be improved.
    • Ability to work in a safe and conscientious manner, work in accordance with the ISO policies and procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives;
    • Skilled in the auditing processes and provide process improvements where needed.
    • Skilled with inspection/audits to determine the causes of defects and aids in improving the efficiency and accuracy of inspection on all phases of product manufacturing.
    • Qualify incoming materials such as blanks from external suppliers; Conduct informal audits regularly and advise production and engineering of gaps found.
    • Demonstrate strong mechanical skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong communications skills where assertiveness can be required.
