Senior Manager, Customer and Business Intelligence

    Reporting to the Director, Strategic Marketing Planning, Business Intelligence & CRM, the Senior Manager, Customer and Business Intelligence will play a leading role in developing customer segmentation and predictive models that drive targeted, profitable growth strategies - inclusive of customer acquisition, retention and optimization. The Senior Manager will also ensure in-depth market, industry, and competitive environmental research and assessments are conducted regularly and communicated in support of development and positioning of relevant service offerings. Experienced in the development and implementation of marketing automation systems, the Senior Manager also plays a central role in business intelligence (BI) data hygiene, as well as development of an analytics/systems strategy to enable data driven decision-making. This role will have direct reports as well.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement advanced business intelligence, reporting and automation tools for fact-based decision-making, improved measurement and customized marketing communication
    • Integrate customer analytics, market and competitive insights and analytics to support marketing strategy planning and sales effectiveness
    • Develop and implement an actionable segmentation strategy supported by the relevant customer intelligence systems to track customer activity at account and product levels. Own segmentation and buying personas by product categories and identify solutions to create appropriate product offer and messaging.
    • Actively support product plan development by providing relevant customer data to establish and execute against product-market fit; ensure that research tools and insights enable validation of product designs; ensure forecasts are integrated at the customer, channel and product level.
    • Develop forecast approaches, predictive and data modeling frameworks in response to evolving business requirements.
    • Suggest new approaches to analyzing information and identifying ways to create a 360 degree view of customers that integrates transactional and purchase behavior with consumer research.
    • Lead market research activities and studies. Responsible for sourcing, contracting and managing expert vendors for market research to support attainment of corporate objectives and insights.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree in Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operation Research, Bioinformatics, or similar or MBA in Marketing or Business Analytics. Masters is preferred.
    • Must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience analyzing customer transaction data using SQL (Teradata, Oracle, or MySQL) or other Analytics databases or statistical packages
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, modeling etc)
    • Data management systems and hygiene management experience
    • Strong research and analytical mindset and extremely detail-oriented
    • Self-motivated, energetic, "can-do" attitude in a fast-moving environment
    • Strong communication skills, written and verbal; ability to present data and its implications in a clear, concise manner
    • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, being able to build bridges and confront tough issues that need to be resolved
    • Ability to manage priorities across multiple stakeholders
    • Strong database and data analysis skills inclusive of predictive and data modelling, with a solid business foundation – especially in Marketing, Finance or Statistics
    • Strong leadership, team building and collaboration skills
    • Experienced in developing data governance and systems capabilities strategy
    • Deep understanding of marketing principles with a focus on segmentation and how to use data to more fully inform and evolve a segmentation framework
    • Advanced SQL skills using SQL Management Studio and/or SQL Report Builder (creating/altering tables, complex data joins, aggregate functions sub-queries, temp tables etc.)
    • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner and presenting findings and recommendations to key decision makers at various management levels
    • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); experience using Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics AX and the Environics Envision platform are assets
    • Detailed oriented, organized, demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders
    • Exceptional problem solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
