Senior Taxation Manager

    Reporting to the Treasurer, Tax and Compliance, the Senior Taxation Manager position is responsible for the effective design and execution of the corporation's tax compliance, planning and structuring to meet the requirements of external and internal financial reporting.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Quarterly and yearend tax provision preparation and review (IFRS) including financial statement note disclosure.
    • Prepares tax inputs for the Mint's corporate planning and forecasting processes.
    • Canadian corporate tax return preparation (final review by an outside firm).
    • United States federal and state tax return information preparation for external preparation.
    • Commodity tax, corporate tax and trade compliance experience to support Mint's business lines and activities – e-commerce, distributors and dealers, direct sales on an international basis including overseeing commodity tax filings for the Mint.
    • Responsible for coordination and management of all taxation audit requests—Office of the Auditor General, Canada Revenue Agency, others as required.
    • Primary interface with Mint's external tax advisors for all areas including cross border activities (example ETR's), non resident tax issues, transaction support and employee taxable benefits.
    • Design, develop and document tax processes and internal controls for the Mint.

    Requirements:

    • Chartered Professional Accountant with strong knowledge in IFRS, CPA, CA preferred
    • Minimum 5 years practical taxation experience required
    • Completion of the CICA in-depth taxation course Parts I & II
    • CICA Advanced International Tax Course and CPA would be an asset
    • SRED claim preparation would be an asset
    • Bilingual (English and French) would be an asset
    • Strong business acumen and technical competence
    • Critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Ability to work with business lines and external advisors and agencies through an influence role
    • Ability to effectively interface with executive management on an as needed basis
