Masters Club Program: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Masters Club?

Established in 1998 to reward the Royal Canadian Mint's most loyal customers, the Masters Club includes collectors across Canada and the United States. Masters Club members are avid coin collectors who enjoy a number of benefits such as free delivery within Canada and the US, advance notice of Royal Canadian Mint products, priority access to limited-edition coins and more!

How do I qualify for the Masters Club?

Masters Club membership is extended to customers who purchase $1,000 CAD (exclusive of taxes) or more of RCM products from the Royal Canadian Mint during a Program Year. Individuals participating in any other discount or rebate program offered by the RCM are not eligible for Masters Club membership.

Can purchases made at a Royal Canadian Mint store count towards my Masters Club membership?

Yes. Purchases of RCM products made at a Royal Canadian Mint store during a Program Year can count towards your Masters Club membership. You must either indicate your intention to have the purchase count towards your Masters Club Program membership at the time of sale, or subsequently send the Royal Canadian Mint a copy of your proof of purchase and a request to have the purchase count towards your Masters Club membership. Your proof of purchase must be received by the Royal Canadian Mint within the same Program Year as the purchase was made. Copies of proof of purchase can be emailed to CustomerService.web@mint.ca or mailed to Customer Service, 320 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0G8. The purchase amount (exclusive of taxes) will be applied to your account as of the date that the proof of purchase was received by the RCM.

Do purchases of non-coin products (such as coin accessories, collection cases, etc.) from the Royal Canadian Mint count towards my Masters Club membership?

Yes. All RCM products purchased from the Royal Canadian Mint, even items that are not coins, can count towards your Masters Club membership.

What happens if I return a product?

If you return a product to the Royal Canadian Mint, any free gift(s) received as a result of the original purchase must be returned along with the product(s). You may also lose your Masters Club membership, or be moved down to a lower membership level, if your total purchases from the Royal Canadian Mint during a Program Year drops below the applicable minimum purchase amount as a result of the return.

What are Masters Club Exclusive Coins?

Each Program Year the RCM will produce four low mintage special Masters Club program coins. With each release, GOLD level members and higher will get an exclusive 45-day period in which to purchase these coins. If any coins remain unsold at the end of the 43-day period, they will be offered to SILVER Masters Club members for a 2-day period. 90% of the mintage for each coin will be reserved for Masters Club members during these exclusive access periods. There is a purchase limit of one coin per Masters Club account.

Who is eligible for a free coin?

PLATINUM PLUS and PLATINUM PRESTIGE members receive one coin from the first special Masters Club coin collection for free. To be eligible for this benefit, the member must have reached PLATINUM PLUS or PLATINUM PRESTIGE status before September 1 of the Program Year. Members who achieve PLATINUM PLUS or PLATINUM PRESTIGE status on or after September 1 will not receive a free coin for that Program Year, but will be eligible for one free coin from the first special Masters Club coin collection of the following Program Year. There is a limit of one free coin per Program Year per Masters Club account.

What are low Certificate of Authenticity numbers?

The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. Most of these are serialized certifications, meaning that each certificate is given a unique number, starting at "1". Low Certificate of Authenticity numbers refers to the lowest range of serialized certificate numbers associated with a coin. Many collectors feel that these lower numbers are more valuable. The RCM will make the lowest serialized certificate numbers for select coins available for purchase only by members of the Masters Club for a limited period of time after the coin is released. These low serialized numbers will be extremely limited, so collectors will have to act quickly to acquire them. We will keep members informed of these opportunities throughout the year.

What are Masters Club Rewards?

PLATINUM, PLATINUM PLUS AND PLATINUM PRESTIGE members earn 1%, 1.5% or 2% (respectively) in Masters Club Rewards on the purchase of Eligible RCM Products from the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) during a Program Year, up to a maximum reward value of $1,000 CAD in a Program Year. To be eligible, purchases must be made from the RCM directly (i.e. through the RCM call centre, online at mint.ca, through the RCM mobile application or from one of RCM's retail locations).

Masters Club Rewards are distributed in the form of a redemption code. The redemption code value will be based on the member's total purchases of Eligible RCM Products from the RCM (before tax) during the applicable Program Year.

Unlike other Masters Club benefits, Masters Club Rewards are only earned in the Program Year that the member attained PLATINUM, PLATINUM PLUS or PLATINUM PRESTIGE membership. Masters Club Rewards will not be earned in a subsequent Program Year unless the member re-attains at least PLATINUM membership during that Program Year by making sufficient purchases of RCM products from the RCM.

Redemption codes will be sent to eligible members after the end of the applicable Program Year. Redemption codes can be applied towards the purchase of Eligible RCM Products (excluding products referred to as subscriptions on mint.ca) through the RCM website (www.mint.ca), mobile app or call centre. The redemption code cannot be applied to purchases made at an RCM retail location. The redemption code is valid for a single transaction only, and expires 90 days after issuance. Any unused value will be forfeited. Redemption codes have no cash value.

What is an Eligible RCM Product?

Eligible RCM Products are RCM products with the exception of: any and all regular circulation coin rolls, such as any roll of five-cent coins, ten-cent coins, and/or twenty-five cent coins as well as any roll of one-dollar coins and/or two-dollar coins; any "Face Value" coins (for example: coins sold as $20 for $20, $50 for $50, $100 for $100, etc.); or any commemorative circulation coin products sold as circulation coins (for example: any commemorative circulation coin product sold at face value).

How long does it usually take to receive an order?

As a Masters Club member, you receive free delivery.

Approximate transit times for available items – are as follows:

  • 2-3 days in Greater Toronto and Ottawa area
  • 3-5 days in Southwestern Ontario
  • 4-9 days in other major Canadian cities
  • Up to three weeks for remote areas of Canada
  • Ordering items that do NOT have an available status will delay the delivery of that order

Please keep in mind that seasonal volumes and inclement weather can increase these estimated times.

Please note that the Royal Canadian Mint may require that you sign a receipt of delivery in person for your order from the shipper. In such cases, if you change or waive this requirement to allow for your order to be dropped off without your receipt signature, you have unilaterally changed the shipping terms and the Royal Canadian Mint is not liable and not responsible to you for any loss, theft or damage to your order at delivery.

To calculate total delivery time, add 2 days processing to the above transit times.

Selecting express shipping methods offered by Royal Canadian Mint will reduce the above transit times with the understanding that it will be at your own cost.
