Royal Canadian Mint to Issue Collector Coins Honouring the Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton

Continuity of the Crown series featuring Princes William Harry and Charles, as well coins celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee also in store for 2011

Ottawa, Ontario, March 2, 2011 – As Canadians anxiously count down to the wedding of HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton and their recently announced tour of Canada this summer, the Royal Canadian Mint is delighted to confirm that it will be issuing beautifully designed collector coins honouring their historic  wedding.  Details of the coins, which will include an eye-catching technological feature, will be revealed in the lead-up to the highly anticipated wedding day.  Royal watchers and collectors are invited to register at www.mint.ca/royal for updates on these and all of the Mint's upcoming royal-themed coins.

As Canada is also counting down to the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's reign, the Mint is preparing to launch an extensive collection of royal-themed collector coins.  On March 15, 2011, the Mint will release the first two coins in its Continuity of the Crown Series, with ultra high relief silver coins portraying Princes William and Harry (Henry).  The coin featuring Prince Charles will be released in September 2011 and the exciting variety of coins honouring Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee will begin appearing in May.
