The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Senior Manager, IT Program Management Office (PMO) who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
This position reports to the Director, PMO and oversees the throughput of IT projects using project management disciplines. They will publish reporting based on information collected from the project teams and manage high-risk and high-visibility projects to assist the Mint in meeting its strategic objectives. The incumbent is responsible for leading a small team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of company’s strategic business plans and identifies ways to add value in achieving corporate goals and objectives;
- Assists with engaging senior leadership and business partners to define the PMO mission, goals and operating model, which must be agreed to and approved at the senior management level;
- Leads the identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, templates and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery;
- Defines, manages and directs the needed end-to-end IT PMO work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases;
- Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to IT PMO staff, project managers and business analysts;
- Builds and maintains relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders, and acts as a trusted advisor;
- Builds and maintains relationships with subject matter experts in all fields of Information Technology and communicates needs with professionalism and in business language;
- Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices in order to achieve higher maturity in PPM;
- Forecasts future resource capacity and reports on existing resource utilization;
- Presents accurate representations of project progress, health, risks, and ongoing challenges;
- Attends various steering committee and PMO meetings, representing the PMO and project management interests;
Requirements
- University degree or College diploma in related area;
- Minimum of 10 years of related business experience;
- In depth knowledge of multiple facets of IT including IT infrastructure, IT operations, development, change management, and analytics;
- Knowledge of the Microsoft M365 platform including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, and Azure DevOps;
- Process flow mapping and instruction set writing using Visio and Snagit;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills utilizing Microsoft Project, PowerPoint and Visio;
- Highly-developed communication and relationship-building skills at senior leadership levels;
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills leading to sound decisions and advice based on organizational strategy;
- Ability to take initiative and to work autonomously;
- Bilingualism preferred
