Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Compliance Coordinator who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance, the Compliance Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and execution of customer on-boarding which includes the due-diligence required for the Mint-wide KYC (Know Your Customer) program and implementing system developments/improvements when necessary. The incumbent also ensures the effective and successful coordination in audits regarding the Mint’s Responsible Metals Program, Anti-Money Laundering Policy and any other programs as deemed necessary.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Interacts daily with customer correspondence for incoming requests and inquiries regarding KYC, KYA and KYS
- Responsible for Bullion and Refinery records management including electronic and manual filing of customer, supplier, product and project files
- Plans, coordinates and implements special projects as requested by Regulatory Affairs to support the business
- Travels as required on behalf of the Mint to validate and assess level of customer’s compliance policies and procedures in place
- Responsible for the Know Your Customer “KYC” customer on-boarding process, “Know Your Supplier (KYS as it pertains to precious metals suppliers) and Know Your Agent (KYA), due diligence requirements, for refining, trading, storage, numismatic, foreign, bullion customers and Bullion DNA customers.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures for managing customer accounts, i.e. inactive accounts
- Coordinates and supports annual training to Mint employees for Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, Anti-Bribery and Corruption and Responsible Metals programs
- Maintains effective awareness and ongoing education of changes to global regulatory requirements related to anti-money laundering; KYC, OECD, LBMA guidelines etc
- Creates and prepares Country Risk Assessments to determine level of risk associated with customer or agents geographic location of operations, and provide recommendation to management to manage risks identified, as applicable
- Prepares information when required for outside agency investigations and other government institutions
- Ensures the effective and successful coordination in audits regarding the Mint’s Responsible Metals Program, Anti-Money Laundering Policy and any other programs as deemed necessary, while ensuring timely delivery of all required information to satisfy compliance program audits
Requirements:
- University degree or certificate in finance or business or a combination of education and relevant work experience
- Experience in the financial industry such as customer service, investigations, compliance/auditing and or back office, would be a strong asset
- Knowledge and understanding of the London Bullion Market Association, FINTRAC, OECD and other precious metals Regulators
- Knowledge and understanding of Canadian Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing legislative framework would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service to a variety of internal and external clients
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion and good judgment in solving problems
- Strong business and analytical background
- High attention to detail; ability to multi-task; ability to meet deadlines
- Works comfortably with minimal supervision and has demonstrated ability to act independently upon information and make decisions to achieve optimal results
- Strong initiative, judgment, integrity and reliability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
