The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Digital Design Lead who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, eCommerce and Digital Customer Experience, the Digital Design Lead is responsible for leading digital design and design reviews for the Royal Canadian Mint’s English and French national digital properties. This individual provides design direction and oversight to ensure excellence and consistency aligned to the Mints design guidelines and strategy. They work cross functionally, collaborating with teams across Mint to deliver high-quality marketing and communications, drive customer focus, and business results.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- College diploma or certificate in related area or a combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in website, email, and digital design
- Experience with digital marketing, email marketing, segmentation, personalization and targeting technologies
- Experience designing and prototyping complex workflows with Figma, Adobe XD, or similar products
- Experience creating and managing design systems and style guides
- Experience working with HTML/CSS is a strong asset
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Bilingualism is an asset
Skills and Abilities:
- Collaborates cross-functionally with marketing, product, and sales teams to create innovative and brand enhancing web assets and email communications for monthly product launches
- Creates digital assets for web pages, emails, banners, and social media ads for national marketing campaigns
- Designs merchandizing emails with dynamic content for targeted audiences
- Creates high-quality digital layouts that drive customer engagement and conversion
- Leads design reviews and collaborates with team members to ensure proper implementation across digital customer touch points, and ensure consistency and integrity of the creative vision
- Provides design direction and oversight to ensure design excellence and consistency aligned to Mint strategy
- Is an active contributor to Agile meetings including Sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, as the design subject matter expert
- Maintains and contributes to the Mint’s design system
Knowledge:
- Expert understanding of visual design principles
- Highly proficient with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator), and Figma, XD, etc
- Strong knowledge of current digital design best practices and web production techniques to optimize the customer experience and journey
- Advanced understanding of email design, working on developing email templates that align with content requirements, responsive email formats and brand standards
- Knowledge of UX best practices and Web Accessibility standards
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
