Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst, Project Controller who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Consolidations, the Senior Financial Analyst, Project Controller is responsible for tracking, analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on project expenditures. The Senior Financial Analyst, Project Controller works directly with project managers to help define the project's goals, objectives and financial framework elements, support the development and maintenance of a project's budget and schedule, analyze progress reported against the work schedules, and recommend actions to improve progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development of project forecasts, annual budgets, and Corporate Plan for all projects
  • Extract and analyze actual costs, and work with Technical Accounting to ensure proper accounting treatment with capital and operating costs based on project stage
  • Manage the capital labour tracking process, including ensuring project managers provide timely reports, analyzing capital labour, and reporting on overall expenditure including FTE metrics
  • Prepare required reports and update project dashboards for monthly management reviews
  • Analyze monthly IT spending and meet with management to review and interpret results and recommend appropriate courses of action
  • Develop improved internal tools to assist in tracking project status
  • Coordinate project reviews for all assigned projects and perform post-mortem analyses to confirm benefits, including measures of success, have been achieved
  • Proactively build relationships and communicate effectively in order to positively influence peers and other stakeholders
  • Provide input on the financial-related details supporting completion of Access to Information and Parliamentary Inquiries, expenditures for corporate insurance coverage tabulation, etc.

Requirements

  • University degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a Finance environment
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomous, flexible and pro-active
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload while paying attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Accounting designation, advanced degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Dynamics and Prophix is an asset
  • Project management experience is an asset
  • Experience with Digital transformations is an asset
