The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Senior Procurement Specialist who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Partner Procurement, the Senior Procurement Specialist applies a systematic and disciplined approach to assisting with the development and implementation of the sourcing strategy and procurement process within an assigned category. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders to bring procurement projects to a close. Experience is required in public procurement processes and developing and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and Vendors. The incumbent’s focus is to ensure the organization achieves its strategic objectives through its related procurement processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to recommend and receive direction to and from management on procurement tactics and plans, executing the RFx procurement process accordingly.
  • Ability to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, openness, fairness, and transparency of the procurement processes are maintained while attaining the best value for the organization.
  • Analytical thinker able to use both quantitative and qualitative methods of comparative financial analysis.
  • Ability to develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and project plans.
  • Ability to ensure all procurement documents and reports are accurately and properly maintained and recorded.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow internal governance and legal framework when executing procurement activities when required.
  • Ability to assist the Senior Category Specialist in conducting spend analysis of subcategories where applicable to support the category management approach.
  • Ability to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives as required to support Strategic Procurement transformation and able to provide input in the development and implementation of the category management process using stakeholder and market research to understand insights into the scope of work.
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to the Procurement Specialists on procurement matters and activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and peers.


  • Successful completion of post-secondary education preferably in business administration, supply chain or procurement or another specialty relevant to the position.
  • Certification or enrolment in Supply Chain Management Association’s (SCMP) designation program, or other recognized professional procurement designation.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years relevant business experience and at least 2 years procurement and contracting experience, public procurement experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience working directly with vendors, and internal stakeholders to align their needs with vendor solutions.
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in government contracting law, trade agreements and procurement fields.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international suppliers for the Mint’s products and services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management techniques and knowledge of the Mint software packages (MS Office Suite, ERP System and Internet).
  • English is essential. Bilingualism is an asset.
