The Uncirculated Set continues a long tradition as the perfect way to collect Canada's circulation coins from year-to-year. These shiny coins are also an original keepsake to transform everyday achievements like the first day of school or first job, into memorable milestones—keep them on hand for life's unexpected victories!
Every coin that is minted in Canada is a work of art. Each represents a fragment of our unique history and extraordinary geography. The 2013 Uncirculated set, which contains the six denominations of coins produced this year, is a striking collection of some of Canada's most famous iconography and Canadian icons.
Polar Bear:
Canada's bi-metallic two-dollar coin, launched in 1996, features a polar bear, one of the world's largest terrestrial carnivores which can weigh up to 650 kilograms. It lives near the cold seas and frozen ice of Canada's far-north.
Common Loon:
Launched in 1987, the reverse of the one-dollar coin represents a common loon swimming against the rugged backdrop of the Canadian Shield. The loon's haunting calls are one the quintessential sound of the Canadian wilderness in summer.
Canada's Coat of Arms:
The Canadian Coat of Arms, proclaimed in 1921 and modified in 1996, reminds Canadians of our diverse heritage. It features images from France (the fleur-de-lis), England (the three royal lions and rose), Scotland (a lion and thistle) and Ireland (the Irish harp and shamrock).
Caribou:
An enduring symbol of the Canadian north, the majestically-antlered caribou has remained a Canadian icon since first apprearing on the twenty-five-cent piece in 1936.
Bluenose:
In 1921, Atlantic Canadians built one of the finest racing and fishing vessels in Canadian history, the Bluenose. Known for its speed, and almost unbeatable in a race, the ship first appeared on the ten-cent piece in 1937.
Beaver:
The beaver is Canada's national animal. Highly sought after for its rich fur in the 17th and 18th centuries, it was the mainstay of the colonial economy for centuries. Today, the beaver is revered as a symbol of hard work and perseverance.
These uncirculated coins have been carefully selected to provide you with the best examples of their kind.

The packaging is very cheap, but my biggest beef is that the $0.50 coin was not minted properly. There are huge (red!!!) scratches (like ridges) on the rim of the coin as if the coin had been grabbed by pliers when it was still hot. I don't know if that will make the coin worth more one day, but I was greatly disappointed. I buy a lot of coins from the RCM and it is the first time I am really, really disappointed.

very poor packaging it was supposed to come in a stiff white plastic display instead it came in a cheapo crinkly pliofilm. i was not impressed especially since you charge a dollar more this year for one less coin how do i ensure getting the right product and its right packaging in 2014? can someone respond if you know please?i won;t get any next year if it is packaged without the hard plastic display

I was excited to give this as a gift to my 13 nephew, who loves collecting coins, for his birthday. We were extremely disappointed with the presentation and packaging. The picture on-line shows some kind of presentation package or holder, but his set arrived in little plastic bags in a basic bubble envelope. It greatly detracted from the charm of the gift. What do you have to do to receive an adequate coin holder?

I have been collecting coins for 55 years and here is a one of a kind offering from the mint with limited mintage and all I read from the above is complaining. I have never bought from the Canadian mint before but with their limited mintage offerings and the quality of the mint set all I see is a worthwhile investment. All you complainers watch the secondary market when the price goes up you will be sorry you didn't invest. Look at the mint rolls of the last penny, it is now selling on the secondary market for $39.00 dollars a roll.

I've read that these have a different finish, but honestly they look like pocket change without all the scratches an marks. Great examples of what coins look like when the leave the mint.

Poor quality packaging. For those people complaining that there is no penny....why would you expect there to be? The last pennies were minted in 2012; there are no 2013 pennies. Why would you expect there to be one in a CIRCULATION set?

Its really disapointing with the wrapping and packaging as it is of low quality, cheap and unpresentable as a gift at all. Not to mention the missing of 1 cent coin for it is the last year of it's legal circulation status.

I was surprised to see so many people complaining about the lack of a penny in this set. This is the reason I bought the set, I have last years circulation set with the penny and wanted to bookend it with this, the first circulation set where there is no penny.I felt it was a good way to document the history of Canadian coins. My only thought is that maybe all the full coin sets this year should have at least held the same price as last year instead of going up since they are all one less coin this year...just a thought...

I have been collecting these sets for my grandchildren since the year they were born. It is so disapointing to see the one-cent coin missing from the set. The price keeps going up on these sets and we keep getting less and less for our money. I would advise friends to buy a different set - perhaps the specimen set for a better value.
