    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality Systems, the Manager oversees the management of all matters related to quality for the Winnipeg facility. In accordance with the objectives of the Quality Systems Organization within the RCM, the Manager is responsible to apply quality management and principles, such as the ISO 9001:2015 standards, which play a significant role as strategic, managerial and operational level to help achieve objectives such as quality, cost and delivery within an environment of continuous improvement.
    This Manager will assist the Senior Manager, Quality Systems in developing, managing the departmental operating, and capital budgets to meet objectives and cost controls. Additionally, the Manager oversees all quality issues on the production floor, customer complaints and more.

    The Manager, Quality Systems will be responsible for leading and managing a team of approximately 4 people. Additional responsibilities will include assisting Engineering, R&D, Procurement and Production in establishing new procedures to improve the appropriate Business Lines overall efficiency and reduce the cost of non-conformity in our business processes by using Quality Management Systems as a tool.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and efficiently coordinate the QA lab analytical, metrological and metallographic work.
    • Responsible for the daily supervision and direction of the activities of three unionized and one non-unionized employee.
    • Ensure that the expectations and objectives are clearly defined and communicated to each staff member and that they are supported with appropriate tools and techniques.
    • Responsible for maintenance and enhancement of the ISO registered Quality Management System applicable to quality, engineering design, procurement, product development and production.
    • Maintenance of Quality Manual and Quality System Procedures on all manufacturing and operational processes.
    • Development and implementation of Quality improvement plans, Inspection, qualification and Test Plans and internal Quality Audit Plans.
    • Management of and participation in internal & external (ISO) quality and product audits.
    • Development and implementation of quality orientation and training programs.
    • Control Plans and Process Specifications to improve business activities and optimise productivity with compliance to the QMS.
    • Ensure the calibration of all measurement equipment and system is maintained, as per ISO standards.
    • Ensure the appropriate training and skills are provided to achieve the goals set forth by the department.
    • Perform root cause analysis and employ problem solving techniques to resolve process problems;
    • Assist in the implementation of auditing techniques and process control plans;
    • Continuous Improvement and Participation in Kaizen projects.
    • Scheduling and Attending Meetings
    • Participate in Production meetings (Huddle boards);


    • University degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
    • Member of or eligible to become a member of a provincial professional association
    • Minimum of 7 years quality management and/or Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Minimum 5 years progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Able to mentor, train and motivate staff.
    • Excellent working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standard and familiarity with various industry codes, standards and regulations governing quality management.
    • Working knowledge of measurement equipment and techniques.
    • Experience in development of Quality Manuals, Quality System Procedures, Inspection and Test Plans etc.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of basic quality tools and techniques, understanding of FMEA, flow charts, control plans, SPC and variation reduction.
    • Knowledge of inspection methods, procedures and reports.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), leadership skills and ability to work in demanding multidisciplinary environment and interact with all levels in the organization.
    • Ability to function in a team-based environment while identifying process improvement, and quality issues.
    • Demonstrated skills in reporting, organization, facilitation, and training are required.
    • Sound knowledge of metrology, root cause analysis, data analysis and problem solving techniques.
    • Must be familiar with lean concepts and terminology.
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point).
    • English is mandatory. French is an asset.
