Design:

Inspired by the elaborate patterns of Indian textiles, ornamentation and mandalas, your coin was designed by Canadian artist Sarindar Dhaliwal. It presents a visually stunning celebration of Diwali as a cherished multicultural tradition in several communities across Canada. The outermost ring offers a Canadian twist on the patterned inlay that famously adorns the Taj Mahal, using intricately engraved trilliums and Pacific dogwood blossoms to represent Canada's largest Indo-Canadian populations in Toronto, Ont., and Vancouver, B.C. Alongside these provincial floral emblems is Canada's own iconic national symbol, the maple leaf, which reflects a spirit of inclusion and the thriving cultural diversity that defines this nation. Symbols from the Hindu, Sikh and Jain faiths form a series of rings that frame the centre, where the silvery shine of the engraved clay lamp (diya) poignantly captures the luminous essence of this ancient tradition known as the Festival of Lights.

Stunning.

When I first saw the Diwali coin, as a crafter of double-sided coin rings, it really spoke to me. Such a beautiful, intricate design would look amazing as a coin ring. I bought two, one for my bullion collection, and one to make a ring from. The ring turned out amazing, and the lapel pin made from the 9/16" plug i punched out of the center of the coin, looks great.

is their a 2017 version of the coin?

In the first picture, the coin looks like it has a vertical difference between the middle area and the next ring out. The picture is showing shadowing in the first picture but the second picture taken from an angle shows very little if any heigth difference between the two previously mentioned sections. My question is: is this a truly 3D embossed coin or is the shadowing seen in the first picture a bad lighting effect and the coin just has small differences in level like any other coin, the loonie & the 50¢ piece are good examples.

EvilDaveCanada

Thank you for your question. This coin has been fully engraved with different levels of relief to enhance the overall look and feel of the coin.

Hi, I'm inquiring in finding a chain and "frame", as I would like to wear this....

Les

Hi Les, We do not sell any chains or wearable frames (bezels) for this coin. However, we do sell frames that can be displayed on a desk or shelf, etc. For example, here's one that will fit 38mm diameter coins like our Pure Silver Diwali coin; http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/floating-frame-coin-accessory-br-80-mm-x-80-mm-x-34-mm-prod2680013

Chad

Are there any GST and PST (BC) on these coins?

Mahesh Swali

Hi Mahesh, If you purchase this coin in British Columbia the taxes for this coin would be $6.44 (7%).

anita

Hi Anita - this coin celebrates Diwali, but is a different design from last year.
