ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS SPORTS TROPHIES OF ALL TIME! Order today!

Since 1892, the Stanley Cup® has stood as a prestigious mark of excellence. It has become hockey's most coveted prize—the end goal for every NHL season, and a dream for all whose passion for our national sport runs deep. Celebrate one of the most famous sports trophies of all time with this special wrap roll of commemorative coins, which proudly pay tribute to the 125-year history of a treasured national icon.

Beyond the annual ceremony at centre ice, where champions hoist it high for all to see, Canadians regard the Stanley Cup® as a revered cultural icon. It began with a Governor General's desire to foster competition among Canada's amateur teams; but Lord Stanley's donation of a silver bowl has taken on far greater meaning over the years. Having passed through the hands of many of the game's legends, the Stanley Cup® has become the embodiment of a winter sport that is at the heart of some of the proudest moments in our nation's history!

A perfect gift for any hockey fan—young and old! Order today!

Special Features:
  • ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS SPORTS TROPHIES OF ALL TIME! Your 25-cent special wrap roll celebrates the 125th anniversary of the Stanley Cup® and the years of hockey history since Lord Stanley's donation of a silver bowl!

  • APPROVED BY THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE®! Your coins are wrapped in a special illustrated paper that includes a logo of the Stanley Cup® 125 Anniversary!
  • PROUDLY PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE 125-YEAR HISTORY OF A TREASURED NATIONAL ICON! Don't get shut out, order yours today!

Design:

Designed by Canadian artist Steve Hepburn, your coin design brings together hockey's past and present in a momentous celebration of the Stanley Cup's® 125th anniversary! The legendary trophy itself is symbolically positioned in the centre of the field, where detailed engraving re-creates its multi-tiered bands. The bowl at the top is unmistakable, and serves as a powerful link to the trophy's origins in 1892, when the sixth Governor General of Canada donated a silver bowl to be awarded to Canada's top amateur team. To the left, the helmet-less player represents the game as it was played in the late 19th century; to the right is a more modern snapshot of how hockey is played today, 125 years after Lord Stanley's history-making donation. Also engraved on the reverse is a banner bearing the commemorative dates "1892" and "2017", as well as the words "COUPE STANLEY CUP" and "125 YEARS/ANS". The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Did you know...
  • No other trophy in professional sports bears the engraved names of the winning team's players, staff AND management!
  • Each of the five-band barrels offers enough room on the Cup to engrave 13 winning teams, with a limit of 52 engraved names. When all the rings are full, the oldest band (at the top) is removed and preserved at the Hockey Hall of Fame, while a new band is added to the bottom of the Cup.
  • Originally known as the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, the iconic silver bowl was donated on March 18, 1892 by the Governor General of Canada, Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley, as a challenge cup to be awarded to Canada's top amateur hockey club.
  • Its appearance has changed over the years: until the late 1940s, the addition of tiered rings and narrow bands gave the Cup a cigar-like shape that earned it the nickname of "the Stovepipe Cup." A redesign transformed it into a two-piece trophy with a removable bowl and collar until its now iconic, one-piece design was introduced in 1958.

With many cool options from the RXM and quick delivery, I would most definitely buy again. I have been giving these quarters as simple and cheap mementos to hockey loving friends. They make a cool way to commerate the Stanley Cup, especially since for fans of the Penguins.

Erica (Product Team) from Ottawa in her answer wrote: "We produced 12,500,000 circulation coins for the 125th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup from which we removed the coins required for the special wrap rolls." Mintage of the 2017 25-cent Circulation Coin 125th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup Ten Coin Pack is 75,000. It means that the mintage of the "2017 25-cent Circulation Coin 125th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup" is 12,500,000 - 50,000*40 - 75,000*10 = 9,750,000. Is it true? I would be grateful for your response.

PaloKaro

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes that is the amount of coins left after subtracting the volume taken for the 10-pack of coins as well as the Special Wrap Rolls. Thanks!

Erica (Product Team)

50,000 coins or 50,000 rolls?

No nickname

Hi, We've produced 50,000 special wrap rolls of these coins.

Chad

Is there a more practical holder that would allow for a better display of these 25 cent and 50 cent coins?

Mou

Hi Mou, We do not have a display case or holder designed specifically for this coin roll. However, we do sell some "Floating Frames" that could be used to display it in. I'd recommend buying the 180 mm x 180 mm x 34 mm frame or larger. Here's the link to our accessories page; http://www.mint.ca/store/buy/accessories_coins-cat120008

Chad

If the mintage of the special wrap coin is 50,000, is there any other mintage of the Anniversary of The Stanley Cup coin itself (released in any other way)? ie. What is the TOTAL mintage of the Anniversary of The Stanley Cup coin?

Barry

Hello and thank you for your question. We produced 12,500,000 circulation coins for the 125th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup from which we removed the coins required for the special wrap rolls.

Erica (Product Team)

Can I buy just 10 coins ($2.50)?

Michael

Hi Michael, Unfortunately our 10-pack of this product is sold out. We only have the 40-coin special wrap roll left. If you're just interested in acquiring 10 of these coins you could go to a bank. They should have some. Or you can find them in you change late this year.

Chad

Will there be a commemorative piece minted to honour the centennial year (1917-2017) of the iconic Toronto Maple Leaf hockey club of the N.H.L.? A special piece was minted to honour the centennial of the Montreal Canadien hockey club, a few years ago. The Stanley Cup 25cent piece would have made an ideal companion set with a piece honouring the Toronto Maple Leaf hockey club. The Toronto club is actually older than 100 years but the N.H.L. would not recognize those earlier years.

Hello and thank you for your question! Unfortunately we cannot release specific product details before it is unveiled however we are planning to commemorate the anniversary of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Please sign up for our email newsletter and keep an eye out for future product launches!

Erica (Product Team)

is this the 125th or 124th? reason is that I have a 1893-1993 SILVER DOLLAR commemorating 100th. This 1 is dated 1892-2017 commemorating 125th. Its only been 24 years that the dollar

THE COLLECTOR

Hello and thank you for your question. The recently released 25-cent coin commemorates the year that the Stanley Cup was gifted from Lord Stanley. The 1893-1993 Silver Dollar coin below celebrates the 100 year anniversary from when the Cup was first awarded.

Erica (Product Team)

Are ALL the rolls packaged in a way where each end shows the Queen? I was disappointed that in order to see the Stanley Cup, I would have to break it open !

Tony

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately due to the automation of the machine which rolls the coins in the special paper we cannot control how the coins are placed in the roll. This is not the case for all rolls. You can exchange your roll if you're not satisfied with the one you received.

Erica (Product Team)

I received my special coin wrap roll today and both sides of the roll only show the Queen's head. If I don't open the roll how do I know that the Stanley Cup coins are even in the roll?

HockeyFan

Thank you for your question. Due to the nature of the large volumes with this automated assembly process, we cannot control how the coins are wrapped in these rolls. The order of the coins will vary, however these were wrapped in the special wrap right off the press so these rolls only include the Stanley Cup coin.

Erica (Product Team)

Are these circulated coins

Karin

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes these coins are in circulation now! Be sure to look for them in your change!
