A heartfelt way to recognize the valour and dedication of these men and women who face danger each day in the line of duty!

Police officers routinely put themselves between civilians and myriad dangers. From traffic control to crime investigations, these men and women work tirelessly to uphold the laws of our land while keeping communities safe and secure. Theirs is a job fraught with great risk; when necessary, they run toward danger with little thought of themselves as they move swiftly to protect both life and property, while maintaining law and order.

A heartfelt way to recognize the valour and dedication of these men and women who face danger each day in the line of duty! Order today!

Special features:
  • HONOURS OUR EVERYDAY HEROES! Third coin in the series that honours our everyday heroes and pays tribute to their dedication to their community and beyond. Other coins in the series include: firefighters, paramedics, and the military.
  • Selective colour over engraving brings to life this depiction of a courageous police officer in action.
  • 99.99% PURE SILVER! Crafted in 99.99% pure silver, your coin is GST/HST exempt!

About the Design:
Designed by Canadian artist Ken Ryan, your coin uses selective colour over detailed engraving in this detailed rendition of a police officer in action. Engraved in the background is an iconic police car parked on the side of a paved roadway, at the edge of an open space where a few trees dot the rolling landscape. Selective colour brings to life the dark blue uniform of the police officer in the foreground, along with the red striping on the pants and the band around the peaked police cap. Responding to a crime in progress, the officer sprints into action with right hand stretched towards the equipment belt that is within easy reach, while the left hand brings a whistle to the officer’s lips.

Did you know…
  • There are nearly 69,000 police officers working across Canada.
  • Canada has a rate of roughly 194 police officers for every 100,000 Canadians.
  • Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Quebec are the only provinces to have a separate provincial police service.
  • We often think of police officers maintaining law and order here at home, but they’re also involved in international peacekeeping missions! In fact, police represented 70% of Canada’s contributions and 72% of the United States’ contribution to United Nations peacekeeping efforts in May 2014.
  • The Canadian Peace and Police Officers’ Memorial on Parliament Hill bears the names of 850 officers killed in the line of duty.

Packaging:
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Why would you not have portrayed an RCMP officer as they are Canada's national (and in many cases, provincial and municipal) police force?

Kymber

We have done more than a dozen coins honouring the RCMP.

Uyen (Product Team)

Why does it show this coin in a maroon clam shell case/box but comes in a plain wooden Box? That's doesn't seem right!

dan2239

The coin comes in a free wooden collector case when you subscribe to purchase all 4 coins.

Uyen (Product Team)

If I order this as part of the series do the coins still come with the maroon clamshell or just the wooden case for all four coins. Thank you.

Sleep guy

Thank you or your question. The coin does not come in a maroon clamshell when you order all four coins. You will receive wooden collector case with the deliver of the Firefighters coin which is the first coin of the series.

Uyen (Product Team)

It appears as if the firearm is facing backwards on his belt, since most shooters are right handed and officers don't usually cross draw it is a little off putting to the eye, if that is in fact his weapon on his side. If not, I must not be reading the image correctly. Will this be the definitive image on the coin?

Karl

Thank you for your question. On this coin what you see is not the officer's firearm but his Taser. His firearm is on his left side.

Uyen (Product Team)

It is a less than lethal option a tazer. Firearm would be on his left

anonymous

That is a Taser, not his side arm. The Taser would normally be in a cross draw position on the duty belt. And the holster appearance confirms it as a Taser.

Smitty

Upon magnifying the image, that appears to be the TASER, not the firearm. (28 year retired police officer)

anonymous

I am left handed and wear my watch on my right arm. I took it for granted that the officer was left handed.

Cookie

It's my understanding that the model was from smiths falls police and he is in fact a leftie.
