Design:

Designed by Canadian artist Tony Bianco, your coin features a traditional Canadian winter scene in all of its tranquil beauty. As the countryside slumbers beneath a blanket of freshly fallen snow, three people venture out into the crisp morning air to enjoy a sleigh ride. Finely detailed engraving captures the intricacies of the horse-drawn sleigh and its occupants; positioned to the left side of the coin, they move through the pristine snow in front of a wooden cabin, where a plume of smoke from the chimney offers the promise of a warm fire upon their return. The grove of pines surrounds them like crystal spires, with the green colours of their branches barely visible beneath the bright white snow cover. In the centre of this scene is a breathtaking Murano glass tree that has been handcrafted by master glass-makers Giorgio and Bernardino Vio of Murano, Italy; this embellishment's delicate beauty perfectly conveys the shimmering, crystal-like qualities of the snow and ice that dominate the landscape. No two glass trees are alike—your coin will truly be unique!

Packaging:

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

I've got all the Muranos. They started bad and got worse. I will inflict this on a grandchild as my revenge

Love the Christmas Murano Glass Series

I have all of the Murano Glass Christmas coins. This one is nice. There is more glass than last years angel. At first I wasn't sure after the feedback I read, but it is a nice coin!!! If you collect the series get this one. The mintage is also much less than the former years!!

Tree looks yellowish and clear. No snow visible on the design. Purchased as I collect all the Murano glass coins. Disappointed in this one.

Images does not make justice for this coin! As the glass is hand made and is it unique, so I think mine is really nice. I'm glad that I bought it, to joint it in my others Venetian glass coins. Strongly recommended.

This is a great coin to show the quality of the mint's work.It would help others to get interested in collecting or buy gifts. It reflects our Canadian winters but could apply to other countries.

I think the christmas tree on my coin differs from some of the others who said that it was more like a blob...guess i got lucky on that one. I would disagree with the placement of the tree when compared with the background picture. Would have looked better if it was placed further left where the first tree is.

Murano Snow Covered Tree

The coin looked okay from the picture on the promo. However, the carved glass on the coin seems too large, looks kind of cheap, and hides the house behind it. I realize there was great skill carving the glass, but it is out of proportion in the scene. I'm keeping the coin, but it is one of the very few coins that I've been disappointed with.

First Murano Glass Coin!!

This is the first Murano glass coin that I have purchased and I am very pleased with it. The coin design is well balanced and I am drawn to the green Murano glass. The size and location on the coin is just right. I normally purchase plain silver Canadian mint coins without painting or gem stones. But, this coin attracted my attention. Thanks to the RCM for a very nice coin.

Chad

Hello I was wondering if the murano glass Christmas tree coin is from the series of the angel, candy cane and snowman coins series before I buy it can you let me know please thank you Ray

blackhack

Hi Ray - yes this coin is part of the same series you reference.

Anonymous

Hello I would like to know if this coin the Murano snow covered tree is the same series as the candy cane ,snowman and the angel thank you very much.

Blackhawk

Hello Blackhawk, Please note that this is the same coin technology used as the previous Murano coins. If you refer to the Holiday Murano coins as a series, then yes, this is the same. The RCM would technically refer to a series as a specific amount of coins, launching most probably with a subscription box, in a specific timeframe that is identified and communicated. Thank you, Sabrina
