Design:

Royal Canadian Mint engravers have meticulously crafted a football that comes alive in your coin's unique shape and convex reverse. While there are minor differences in the specifications for the footballs used by the various football leagues in North America, this design showcases all the standardized features of a modern Canadian football: the leather panels, "night stripes," and laces that were once part of the manufacturing process but are now used to maximize grip.

Theories abound how the football got its distinctive shape, but one thing's for sure, it's not the result of deliberate design, it just evolved that way. One theory suggests the first footballs some 170 years ago simply took on the shape of the pig's bladder from which they were made. Even when the switch was made to cowhide and rubber, early footballs were difficult to inflate and were consistently lopsided. This warped shape proved to be a lot easier to carry and throw, and when players began using the forward pass in the early 1900's, the football was deliberately designed into the elongated shape we see today.

I'm not sure I understand . Is this coin , if resold only worth twenty-five dollars ? Is it actual Canadian currency ?

ojam

It is indeed actual Canadian currency. Unlike circulation coin whose face value equals "price", collector coin with limited mintage such as this one typically has face value that is lower than the coin price. When reselling, collector would normally rely on the coin's worth beyond its face value; this includes the precious metal value, craftsmanship, technology, increasing overall value thanks to rarity, etc.

Yudi (Product Team)

The difference between a coin and a medal is that a coin is actual currency so it must have some denomination with it such as a penny, nickel, dime, quarter does in the USA and coins can be spent unlike medals but the mints make 50 dollar or hundred dollar gold pieces/ coins containing 1/2 to an ounce of gold which is worth far more than the denomination of 50 to a hundred dollars so although it could be spent as a hundred dollars, it would be very silly to do that but since there are no 15 hundred dollar coins in currencies, some denomination has to be designated for it to be legal tender or a coin. If someone has such coins and wanted to sell them, ebay or other such sites would be a good place to start or check the current selling prices of such. Hope this helps someone.
