The Mint is hiring a Senior Manager, Technical Services who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Winnipeg Manufacturing, you will lead all maintenance activities to ensure the site operates at peak performance.  You’ll lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of approximately 40 employees (directly and indirectly) who are responsible for efficiently maintaining highly specialized production equipment of the Winnipeg facility - where every Canadian circulation coin and coins for countries worldwide are produced. This role requires a customer focused leader to foster a culture of safety, inclusion, employee engagement and professional growth.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Champion health and safety by upholding safe work practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture where safety is a top priority.
  • Foster an inclusive, and accessible workplace that promotes employee engagement, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Define and oversee maintenance strategies, service part supply, contract management, capital improvement plans, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Manage a $13M operational budget for labor, parts, and external contractors; oversee reporting, performance tracking, and improvement plans.
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to ensure production and product quality targets are achieved.
  • Recommend solutions and evaluate program and service performance using analytical and evaluative thinking.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish shared goals and drive organizational success.
  • Establish and champion equipment reliability, including standardization to enhance operational efficiency.

This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five days per week.

Qualifications:

Languages Requirements:

This position requires an advanced level of English proficiency. Proficiency in multiple languages is considered a strong asset. 

 

Education & Designation:

  • Technical diploma or University degree in a related field.
  • Professional Engineering designation, technical accreditation, or trades certification is considered an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related business experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience.
  • Proven experience applying maintenance principles, best practices and emerging technologies to lead innovation and efficiency.
  • Extensive experience with maintenance data management and reporting systems (ERP) system, preferably Microsoft D365.
  • Significant experience in a unionized manufacturing environment with a focus on health and safety, continuous improvement and technical services.
  • Experience leading and implementing Work Management best practices in a collaborative and teaching environment.

  • Proven ability to motivate, coach and develop employees to foster a safe and inclusive work environment.
  • Excellent leadership, team building, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Capable of developing strategies and action plans in concert with strong change management skills.
  • Technical knowledge of trades work (primarily mechanical and electrical) with strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Suite, and a working knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and machining concepts.
  • Ability to respond effectively under pressure, including situations such as equipment failure, employee injury, or cost control challenges.
  • Good knowledge of legislation related to the trades.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a changing environment.
