The Mint is seeking a Director, Talent Management who excels in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
In this role, you will report directly to the Vice-President, Human Resources (HR). You will be responsible for directing the development of strategic initiatives and overseeing key programs that shape the employee journey and experience at the Mint.
Your responsibilities will include talent acquisition, with a strong focus on equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). You will also oversee onboarding processes, performance management, learning and development—which encompasses strategic planning, delivery, instructional design, and compliance training—as well as awards and recognition, succession planning, and employee engagement.

In addition, as the Director, you will champion continuous HR process enhancements by embracing best practices and innovative strategies across all areas of talent management, proactively positioning the Mint to meet future organizational needs.
You will also hold a pivotal operational role, overseeing the budgeting and financial management of the Talent Management team. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders, both within the Mint and across external networks, to drive impactful initiatives and foster excellence throughout the organization.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead talent management strategies and programs, creating a clear roadmap to equip leaders with essential tools, skills, and processes to achieve business goals.
- Set the strategic direction for Learning and Development, ensuring the implementation of professional development solutions that boost individual and organizational performance and build a culture of continuous learning.
- Provide business leaders and HR Business Partners with data-driven talent solutions to address current and future workforce needs, including succession planning Lead a high-performing talent acquisition team to deliver quality, cost-effective recruitment that enhances the Mint’s employer brand both internally and externally.
- Design and deliver performance management tools and processes that foster open communication, feedback, and collaboration, driving a high-performance culture for both union and non-union employees.
- Partner with senior management, HR, and external experts to lead employee engagement initiatives, analyze results, identify improvement opportunities, and support change management at all organizational levels.
- Develop and oversee talent programs that advance the Mint’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) objectives.
- Manage and continuously improve the awards and recognition program to align with business objectives and organizational values, promoting a culture of appreciation.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring on-site presence at our Ottawa location three to five days per week, depending on meeting requirements and other activities.
This selection process may also qualify you for other positions with similar requirements and qualifications.
Qualifications:
Languages Requirements:
Proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If no qualified candidate fully meets the required levels, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy. The linguistic profile for this position is:
- Reading Comprehension: Advanced (Level C)
- Written Expression: Intermediate (Level B)
- Oral Proficiency: Advanced (Level C)
Education & Designation:
- University degree or equivalent, in Business and/or Human Resources Management, or a related area
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation would be an asset
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of Talent Management, Organizational Development, Learning and Development or related Human Resource experience
- Minimum of 7 - 10 years of progressive management experience
- Extensive experience in Learning and Development

- leadership and organizational development, including coaching teams to drive cross-functional collaboration and performance improvement.
- learning and development strategies, including designing and delivering training programs using models such as ADDIE.
- transformation and change management, utilizing structured frameworks and assessment tools to support organizational transitions.
- lean and continuous improvement methodologies, with a track record of reducing operational waste and streamlining processes.
- the employee lifecycle processes, and how to enhance key touchpoints throughout the employee journey.
Demonstrated skills in:
- strategic thinking, team leadership, collaboration and cooperation, impact and influence
- facilitation and coaching
- project management, analytics and problem-solving
- budgeting and managing contracts
- presenting to senior leadership, including a Board of Directors
Proven abilities in:
- promoting psychological safety, fostering inclusive practices, and demonstrating high emotional intelligence
- collaborating across functions to strengthen organizational culture, increase employee engagement, and support strategic talent management decisions
- managing multiple priorities, resources, and tight deadlines effectively
