The Mint is hiring a Financial Analyst, Complex Accounting who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Complex accounting, the Financial Analyst, Complex Accounting is responsible for effectively accounting for revenue and related costs associated as well as accruals with the Winnipeg and Ottawa Plant Operations and Ottawa Refinery Operations, including the maintenance and accurate reporting in the financial control system. Also, the Financial Analyst, Complex Accounting will help support the transition, reconciliation of parallel phases and deployment of Microsoft D365.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support the temporary reconciliation and consolidation of reporting requirements during the ERP implementation and deployment
- Prepare and document test cases for Finance processes
- Conduct tests of Finance modules in D365, document results of testing and follow up on exceptions
- Responsible for revenue recognition of foreign business line contracts, bullion transactions, numismatic products and the Canadian Circulation memorandum of understanding
- Assist with accounting research and the preparation of accounting memorandums
- Responsible for the accounting of various provisions and liability
- Responsible for the accounting for department expenditures
- Responsible for donations accounting, as well as donations reporting
- Complete financial close activities, including manual journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly reporting
- Identify and recommend process improvements and assist in ensuring internal controls exist for revenue recognition and related expense accounting and reporting
- Support all external audit requirements
- Action other responsibilities as assigned, including projects or initiatives to ensure successful delivery on Finance objectives
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring on-site presence at our Ottawa location three to five days per week, depending on meeting requirements and other activities.

Qualifications:
Languages Requirements:
Proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If no qualified candidate fully meets the required levels, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy. The linguistic profile for this position is:
- Reading Comprehension: B Intermediate
- Written Expression: B Intermediate
- Oral Proficiency: B Intermediate
Education & Designation:
- Bachelors in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of related business experience, manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with revenue recognition would be considered an asset
Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success with analyzing contracts and making sound business recommendations
- Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Advanced skills in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Team player, with strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Strong background in business processes and internal controls
