The Mint is hiring a Logistics Coordinator who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Logistics Operations & Strategy, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate shipment and receipt of goods for the Mint. This role supports daily transportation, documentation, and customs compliance processes while maintaining close collaboration with internal teams and external logistics providers. The Logistics Coordinator uses established systems (e.g., ERP) to manage data and performance metrics, helping to achieve on-time delivery and cost effectiveness for customer orders and maintain robust security and regulatory compliance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, identifying their needs and defining priorities in order to create effective logistical plans and ensuring aligned implementations.
  • Plan and organize the transportation of goods including selecting the most cost-effective and efficient transportation modes, coordinating with carriers and optimizing routes to minimize transit times.
  • Prepare and validate shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading, customs forms, certificates of origin) in line with internal and external requirements.
  • Communicate daily with carriers, freight forwarders and armoured car providers to confirm bookings, resolve exceptions quickly, and support the Mint’s on-time delivery and cost targets.
  • Accurately enter shipment data and inventory updates in the ERP system (e.g., D365 or similar), maintaining up-to-date, error-free records.
  • Support customs clearance activities by preparing necessary documentation, liaising with customs brokers and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Work closely with internal partners (e.g., Production, Finance, Sales, Security) to ensure all steps in the end-to-end logistics process are completed on schedule for on-time delivery to customers.
  • Support safe and efficient warehouse operations by assisting with best practices, resolving carrier and transportation issues, and ensuring alignment with logistics goals.
  • Follow all safety, security and dangerous goods handling protocols in daily logistics work.
  • Continuously track and analyze key logistics metrics (such as on-time delivery, costs, and carrier service levels) to identify and recommend opportunities that enhance efficiency and improve service and financial performance.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring on-site presence at our Winnipeg location three to five days per week, depending on meeting requirements and other activities.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be available to work outside normal business hours, as required, to respond to emergency issues and ensure timely resolution.

Qualifications:

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English is essential. Bilingualism is considered an asset.

Education & Designation:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field. A combination of other relevant education, related work experience, or accreditation may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain operations, or a related coordination role
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments, including customs documentation and cross-border transportation.
  • Experience working with transportation providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
  • Experience preparing and validating shipping and export documentation.
  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, or similar) for shipment processing, inventory management, and data entry.
  • Experience in a highly regulated, manufacturing, security-sensitive, or precious metals environment is considered an asset.

  • Ability to coordinate logistics activities with production schedules to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations and customer deliveries.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve transportation, inventory, and operational issues efficiently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety, security, and regulatory compliance, including safe material handling practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing shipping documentation, inventory transactions, and ERP system data.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across Production, Sales, Finance, Security, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze logistics and operational performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing, production planning, and supply chain processes, and the impact of logistics on operational performance.
  • Knowledge of transportation, freight management, warehouse operations, inventory control, and distribution best practices.
  • Knowledge of the Mint’s physical security requirements related to the transport of goods.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, hazard identification, risk mitigation, and safe work practices in manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) requirements, transportation regulations, and supply chain security protocols.
  • Knowledge of customs clearance processes, import/export regulations, and international shipping documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of current Incoterms and how they apply to the obligations of the seller and buyer.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean principles and process optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 or equivalent) and logistics performance metrics such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, inventory accuracy, and carrier performance.
  • Knowledge of Excel at the intermediate-to-advanced level.
