The Mint is hiring a Senior Manager, Protective Services who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, you’ll be responsible for leading and managing a team of unionized and non-unionized armed personnel dedicated to safeguarding the Royal Canadian Mint’s human, physical, intellectual, and reputational assets against internal and external threats. The role encompasses strategic development, program oversight, and expert consultation to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, contractors, and visitors. You will be at the centre of national asset protection, emergency management, and organizational readiness. Your Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Incident Commander for Protective Services in Winnipeg, leading coordinated responses during emergencies.
  • During significant events, act on behalf of the Chief Security Officer for Winnipeg operations, ensuring operational continuity and the protection of Mint assets.
  • Lead the Mint’s counterfeit prevention program, collaborating with Communications, Finance, and Operations to strengthen controls and uphold trust in Mint products.
  • Champion cultural transformation and change management across the Protective Services function.
  • Develop leaders and promote a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
  • Build productive relationships with union partners and support a positive labour relations environment.
  • Work cross‑functionally to optimize security programs and integrate them with enterprise‑level strategies and risk frameworks.
  • Provide fiscal oversight to ensure sustainable and accountable operations.
  • Set clear performance expectations, support leadership growth, and guide teams toward excellence.
  • This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five days per week.

Qualifications:

Languages Requirements:

  • This position requires an advanced level of English proficiency. Proficiency in multiple languages is considered a strong asset.

  

Education & Designation:

  • University degree in a related field, ideally in law enforcement, or at least 10 years of security or law enforcement leadership experience in a high‑risk environment.
  • Successful Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100,200,300 or 400 coursework.

  

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related business experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive management responsibility with success leading teams, strategic leadership, team development, and workforce transition experience.
  • Proven success leading organizational transformation and culture change.
  • Strong experience in security operations, systems, policies, and controls in medium to large organizations.

  

Additional Qualifications:

  • Expertise in emergency management and incident response (ICS principles).
  • Ability to develop and implement forward‑looking security strategies.
  • Deep knowledge of security concepts, relevant legislation, and supporting software.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and collaboration skills.
