The Mint is hiring a Supervisor, Protective Services who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Protective Services, the Supervisor, Protective Services is responsible for the protection of all physical assets for the RCM as well as the safety and security of all employees, contractors and visitors against any hostile acts. The incumbent’s behavior must demonstrate professionalism and inspire trust in the integrity of the Protective Services function and the Mint in general. The Supervisor will facilitate the proactive identification and assessment of security threats and manage security risk through the implementation of appropriate controls for all business activities in the facility. The Supervisor will be responsible for the establishment of comprehensive security programs and procedures, employee training and awareness, and ongoing security reviews and assessments. The incumbent will be armed and ready to support tactical response to any life-threatening situation. The incumbent works alongside another supervisor and is responsible for front line operations, leading a team of approximately 36 people.
Your Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Senior Manager, Protective Services, the incumbent will support the direction and implementation of programs to ensure that assets are protected from theft, fraud, and collusion.
- Conduct ongoing threat and risk assessments to identify security vulnerabilities and take corrective action as necessary.
- Oversee and coordinate responses to security incidents and conduct investigations.
- Collate and analyze security incidents, identify trends, disseminate information as required, and provide reports.
- Identify and provide Protective Services Officers with training, development and coaching.
- Oversee the daily security activities of the Protective Services function.
- Able to implement security and crime prevention programs; co-ordinate the conduct of security and emergency awareness programs.
This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five (5) days per week (Monday to Friday) on a late morning to afternoon/evening shift (8-hour shift). The schedule may be adjusted based on operational requirements.
This selection process may also qualify you for other positions with similar requirements and qualifications.
Qualifications:
Languages Requirements:
- English proficiency is essential. Bilingualism is considered an asset
Education & Designation:
- College and/or University Diploma in Security Management, Criminology or Law Enforcement or a combination of education and 5 years related security/law enforcement experience
- A valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Must possess or successfully obtain and maintain a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) and be willing to carry a firearm
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years previous leadership experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a unionized environment
- Experience in security and emergency procedures
- Experience with accident prevention and safety; investigative techniques; crisis intervention and contingency planning
Additional Qualifications:
- Must be willing to complete a psychological assessment and complete the Mint’s Firearms and Defensive Tactics courses
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- HAZMAT experience will be considered an asset
- Ability to motivate, coach and maintain a positive and inclusive work environment
- Ability to follow directions as well as make decisions, solve problems and think critically
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly and concisely convey information, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Must possess strong work ethics and conduct themselves in a professional manner
- Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) to make sound decisions, solve problems, and think critically under pressure
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, with the ability to consistently follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
