The origin of the Tooth Fairy dates back centuries ago to Europeanhistory when parentscommonly buried their children’s first fallen baby toothin the ground. In addition tobelieving a new tooth would grow in its place, there was widespread belief that teethhad an element of power—so much power they could ward off evil. As people migratedto North America, so too did the legend.

Today, the tradition has evolved and the lost tooth is left under achild’s pillow atbedtime. While the child is sleeping, the Tooth Fairy makesa visit and takes the tooth inexchange for money or a gift.
