Design:
Created by Canadian artist Derek Wicks, the reverse design artfully combines symbolic elements to express Canada's well wishes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on their 70th wedding anniversary. A sumptuous colour application over detailed engraving places a special emphasis on the Royal Cypher (EP) and St. Edward's Crown; both are flanked by decorative scrollwork that comes together in the shape of a tiara, with a prominent maple leaf to pay tribute to the Canadian Crown. The vibrant blue hue of the garter sash provides a colourful backdrop for the engraved double dates "1947" and "2017" that mark this Royal Platinum Anniversary. Fittingly, the geometric motifencircling the design is inspired by Her Majesty's platinum-set bracelet, which was gifted to herby His Royal Highness on their wedding day (November 20, 1947). This artistic rendering of the Royal jewel is further enhanced by lustre colour technology, which evokes the scintillating beauty of diamonds and adds a regal sparkle to our numismatic celebration. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
With its striking geometric design, the Wedding Gift Bracelet is an exquisite piece that has been worn by Her Majesty on multiple occasions since 1947. The platinum-set bracelet is centered around three brilliant-cut diamonds, which originated from a tiara belonging to His Royal Highness's mother, Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark. In fact,His Royal Highness was heavily involved in the bracelet's design, which undoubtedly adds to the sentimental value of this sparkling jewel.
