About
NEW! All three coins beautifully enhanced with a glossy enamel effect! Subscribe today!
They are some of the most efficient hunters in the wild, aided by a wondrous pair of eyes that seemingly glow in the night. Many of Canada's nocturnal creatures are equipped with optical adaptations such as the tapetum lucidum, which amplifies night-time vision and gives the eye aniridescent shine when light is cast upon it.
Beginning with the great horned owl, this three-coin series takes a closer look at these extraordinary facial features. Each pair of animal eyes is beautifully enhanced with a glossy enamel effect that adds unprecedented colour complexity, while glow-in-the-dark technology allows them to peer out from the dark!
A beautiful 3-coin series, ideal for someone who enjoys Canadian wildlife! Order your 3-coin subscription today!

About your first coin design:
The indomitable spirit of the great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) is evident in your coin's design by Canadian artist Curtis Atwater. The close-up portrait of its broad face features complex engraving that adds textural details throughout, especially in the rendering of its plumage. Special emphasis is placed on the owl's eyes, wherean enamel effect mimics the glossy look of a traditional paint application, but with far more colour variances that give the amber-coloured irises a morelife-like appearance. They are further enhanced byglow-in-the-dark technology that adds a luminous intensity to the piercing gaze, which offers the onlyvisible proof of the owl's presence in the dark. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
Packaging:
Each of your three coins are encapsulated and presented individually in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.
