• The Toonie Polar Bear has a nickname, and it is… Churchill. To mark the 10th anniversary of the bi-metallic coin, the Royal Canadian Mint held a naming contest in 2006. Churchill won with 34 per cent ofthe votes. The runners-up? Wilbert and Plouf.
