A FIRST: Includes a black light flashlight that makes the lightning bolts on the coin radiate across the sky!

In nature, there are few displays of raw power that are more spectacular and breathtaking than the sudden flash of a lightning bolt against the dark sky. Through the innovative use of technology, all the power and light of a thunderstorm on a hot summer day blows across this coin's surface, re-creating Mother Nature's most electrifying light show to stunning effect—all in the palm of your hand.

A beautiful coin that you will show to your friends and family again and again! Order yours today before they're all gone!

Special Features:
•   A FIRST: Includes a black light! The artistry of the reverse can be appreciated in any light, but viewing it under a black light (included) activates the special technology that adds an intense vibrancy to the lightning bolts.
•   Crafted in 99.99% pure silver with a limited mintage of 8,000, this coin conveys the beauty and intensity of nature's fury.
•   World-class technology and a stunning image of the Canadian landscape mean that this awe-inspiring coin is sure to be sought after by collectors.
•   Your coin is GST/HST exempt.

About the Design:
Designed by two Canadian artists, Tony Bianco and Arnold Nogy, your coin presents a stormy natural landscape. A lone eastern white pine, shaped by steady winds, rises from a small rocky island in Ontario's Georgian Bay. In the distance, stylized forests cower under a stormy sky that seems to glow with energy as Mother Nature unleashes her power. Viewing the reverse under a black light (included) activates the coin's specialized technology, allowing the lightning bolts to radiate across the sky with a stunning life-like intensity and exceptional luminosity.

Did you know…
•   Canada's “lightning capitals” include both Windsor, Ontario (which holds the record for the most days of lightning in one year: 47 days in 2006) and Estevan, Saskatchewan.
•   In Canada, thunderstorms are most common in the interior provinces and much less frequent in the country's three coastal regions: Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic. As an example, Toronto, Ontario recorded more than 15,000 lightning flashes between 1999 and 2008, compared to Vancouver, British Columbia, which recorded just over 100 in the same time frame.
•   Canada's thunderstorm hot zones include the Rocky Mountain foothills of Alberta, southern Saskatchewan, southern Manitoba, and Ontario.
•   Thunderstorms in Canada occur primarily in June, July, and August. During these summer months, lightning flashes every 3 seconds.
•   On average, Canada experiences more than 2 million lightning flashes annually.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Worth waiting for the last one to arrive

I now have all four in the promised free display case and can see how worthwhile the wait was as these are fab when displayed together and especially when the blacklight flashlight is applied. WOW beautiful set. I am SOOOOO glad I ordered this one.

AS a gift

This coin is amazing. The use of the black light to change the appearance of the coin is ingenious.

Where is my clamshell and black beauty box?

This coin would be ideal for a young budding coin collector, but without the promised packaging, it detracts from the gift.

Fine Silver Proof - Perfect For Weather Enthusiast

I'm a lifelong sky enthusiast. This was recommended by a weather friend who also buys coins for investment. I have a first day of issue set of US Cloudscape stamps (2004), and these coins will be a wonderful addition. The first one arrived safely packaged. I'm glad all the attention was on the coin itself. A display mode will come later. Thanks RCM for the beautiful first piece. It didn't disappoint.

Great coin AND packaging update dor series subscribers!!

Great looking 1st coin in the series with the unique blacklight feature. Called the Mint as I was expecting the clamshell case and not the plastic baggie. Well BONUS!! They updated the series so a wooden case box will come at the end with the last coin. The online description has not been updated to reflect the change.

Nice Coin- disappointing packaging

The coin is nice, its different,... the lightening pops with the black light, As for the packaging.... "bubble wrap" not even a card board folder that you get with the $20 for 20 coins, there is definitely no clam shell case......hence I am extremely disheartened with the presentation. It cannot be used as a gift!!!! Some-one at RCM made a big error on the packaging decision on this one....sorry but I expect better of a world leading Mint!!

Beautiful Coin

The engraving, colours and design are nice. This coin looks great even without the blacklight.
