THIRD IN THE SERIES! Features 130+ individually engraved mosaic “tiles”! Order today!

Canada’s largest wild feline is a rare sight in the forests of Western Canada—but only because of its secretive nature. A clearing in the woods allows a glimpse of a tan-coloured cougar on your coin, where, even in mosaic-like form, the big cat is the image of agility and strength in the wild! This is the third coin in our Canadian Mosaics series, which puts a new spin on traditional wildlife portraits. Your coin is formed by more than 130 individually engraved segments of all sizes, like pieces of tile that come together to form a mosaic—complete with engraved “grout” lines! But the attention to detail runs much deeper than the detailed engraving: Colour Mosaictechnology also heightens our colourful portrait by mixing different paint effects that create a subtle interplay of light—from glassy hues to the dark and opaque colours of the cougar’s fur.

Another gorgeous coin for someone who enjoys beautiful designs! Order today!

Special features:
  • STILL A FIRST! Colour mosaic, a new coin technology, mixes engraving and different paint effects to create a colourful mosaic artwork that fits in the palm of your hand!
  • PIECED TOGETHER LIKE TILEWORK! More than 130 individually engraved, differently shaped “tiles” combine for a close view of a cougar in a forest clearing, while engraved “grout” lines help capture the look of raised tiles.
  • A RICH VARIETY OF COLOURS! Different paint effects combine to give each segment a varying degree of colourful translucence—from dark, matte colours to glossy hues that partially reveal the shining surface beneath this colour application.
  • AVAILABLE AS A 3-COIN SUBSCRIPTION! While supplies last, order the 3-coin subscription to ensure you receive all three coins in the series, one coin per month! Your credit card is charged only when your coin ships! Past coins in the series include:
    • 1st coin: Caribou (already shipping, available while supplies last)
    • 2nd coin: Grizzly Bear (already shipping, available while supplies last)
  • OUTSTANDING ATTENTION TO DETAIL! Complex engraving divides the larger image into segments that resemble pieces of coloured glass, all the while meticulously re-creating the cougar’s familiar features.
  • INCLUDES SERIALIZED CERTIFICATE: The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins.
  • 1 OZ. PURE SILVER: Your coin is crafted from one ounce 99.99% pure silver!
  • LOW WORLDWIDE MINTAGE: Only 6,000 coins will be made available worldwide.
  • NO GST/HST: Your coin has no GST/HST.

Designed by Jori van der Linde, your coin features Colour Mosaic technology, a combination of engraving and paint techniques that transform a traditional wildlife portrait into mosaic art. More than 130 individually engraved, differently shaped “tiles” combine for a close view of a cougar (Puma concolor) in a forest clearing, while engraved “grout” lines help capture the look of raised tiles. Different paint effects alter the intensity of each coloured segment, save for the polished surface of the coin that adds a shine to the trunks and branches of the tall trees. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.
